Nope im on ten meg cable, but yes the servers are approx 29miles away 
So when i get lag i know its bad, but i hardly do

Gotta agree with most of the people in this post... Survivability in low sec is not really skill dependend. It mostly depends on how you behave when faced with a threat.
If you get attacked in a belt strike up a convo pay the ransom get on with your bussiness. If you think there's a gatecamp go through with a shuttle first and scout.
Sure it'll take more time but it'll take allot less time then fitting a new ship.
All in all as long as you pay attention to your surroundings and play it smart low sec is a breeze. The same goes for allot of 0.0 .
Sometimes speed and brains are more valuable then any tanking and gunnery skills you have.
First day I started this character I moved to low sec and i'd do it all over again.
Well have fun in WOW where its all 1.0 space. Go for a roleplaying or standard only server or you may get ganked by an ebil rogue pirate

EVE is a sanctuary from the bums in WOW, take a look at their forums one day. I've never seen more whining before or after I made the mistake of checking the World of Farmbosscraft forums.
To the OP. Get over it, is a damn game. learn to play before you cry and if you cant be bothered to learn, quietly tuck your tail between your legs and go looking for a less intense game. I'll be here shoting and being shot by anything that moves. EVE rocks!
