eve is great because of many things one of ehem is not to be underestimated. It is the fact everyone. THE ENTIRE GAME is in one big area it is one of eves greater strengths and to lose that would just ............ bla i would be VERY disapointed

How many times does it have to be said? Theres a new topic like this once every week from either a 4 month old player, or a 3 year old player who quit logging in along while back.
No to another shard.
No to PVE only areas.
No to a PVE only shard.

To the original poster: yes.
I don't believe CCP will sort the problems anymore.
It was promised with the ramsan, then the new servers, and the cycle goes on.
Sharding is a viable solution, it has been done successfully on Anarchy Online and both servers are doing well as populations go (the game has always been plagued with lag and some still remains, but nothing comparable to EVE's lag which is the worst in the industry).
Most Tranquillity players would not move on, but at least 20% would move and the newest characters would probably be created only the new server.
This way, the fixes and hardware would bring Tranquillity to healthy state again and the new server would be a charm.
It won't happen though, it's a matter of pride for CCP.
They'll see what pride is good for when the next good game hit the shelves.
I know of many people (mostly PvPers) that are completely fed up with the crappy servers and will move to the next game.
Maybe not for long, time will tell...

No it would ruin eve..
the problem isent the server hardware you can always make the grid bigger and more powerfull if you can affort it.. as i recall the problems with the grid/servers are both bugs and mem leaks in the coding.. when they get removed and the new hardware installed.. we should all be smooth sailing for a while again

Altough it wouldn't be that nice because we lose the rich world we have, but as we all can see the current server's performance can't keep up with the number of players :(
