Still... in a game where it's made out to be so cruel due to the mechanics and the freedom for players to act however they want (excl RL death threats and abusing CCP/Staff) apparently bad language isn't allowed.
To me that doesn't add up... as well as the fact the in game isn't rated for the reason that anyone has the ability to swear.
Learn from WoW, CCP and implement a "profanity filter". Gary Speed jokes can just be ignored at will |

The game still operates in the real world, with real people controlling the characters. Look. The initial reason why I posted here was not to ***** about anything, just a quick laugh. I'm not mad, bro. I will admit that what I said was a bit over the line in acceptable public behavior, but damnit that vodka isn't going to drink itself.
That being said, I think my overall issue with this situation would be CCP's use of selective ethical policy. You know, like waging a holy war on unaffiliated ISK sellers only to turn around and start selling ISK? While I would would bet that it is a rare occasion for most CCP members to actually take pleasure in gagging anyone, it really seems like this policy is simply an effort to appease parents and retain Eve's delicate teenage subscriber demographics.
Also, does the fact that this was all brought on by some dipshit crybaby noob who got his **** ganked, and had no other viable option for retaliation change anything? |

The setting of this game is one that requires a certain amount of cerebral activity.
Which tends to mean that while we all try steal, murder and backstab eachother in the most tear inducing way we can invent. We tend to do so in a quite polite and civilised language.
Calling someone a ****** whiny ***** and a ****** offspring of a ***** from ***** and ******'s sausage is easy.

I don't know about you, but I don't like having annoying 12-16 year olds with squeaky voices in my chat, or my fleet, that even pisses the wife off when we are on voice chat with our gaming clan.

On one hand, this game lets people grief the **** out of you, and that is perfectly within the game rules, yet when you swear at someone in Jita (which, by the way, complaining about swearing in Jita is like complaining that people **** each other in a ***** house.), it's the end of the world.

This game is not exactly Hello Kitty Online, if you know what I mean, and overzealous moderation has been known to **** me off, especially in games considered *hardcore*...
We are adults, people swear, people die, people kill, people steal, grow the **** up and deal with it, me saying you are a *** does not affect you in any way, shape or form unless you are a spineless idiot that needs to get the **** out of his mom's vagina and see the world for what it is.
This applies both IRL and in Eve, because people that aren't butthurt about **** like that in Eve are most certainly not affected IRL either, and those that are, are.
Can't help but feel sorry for people that in the year 2011, moving close to 2012, still take offense in anything other than actions.
I mean FFS, our ancestor's children were more badass and hardcore and non pussies than today's *adults*.

Last time I checked, calling someone a *** or a ****** online, in games, has nothing to do with racism or discriminating against sexual preference, it is all about slang and smacktalk.
