Me and my two friends will be trying out our first lvl 4 mission this coming weekend when I finish hull upgrades 5. I would just like to post our plan and ask you guys if there is anything we should watch out for.
I'm going to be flying a dominix with two t2 large armor repairs, t2 hardeners and a lot of nos and cap recharge.
My drone skills aren't that great, so one of my friends is bringing his tempest with 1400mm howies.
The last guy will have an exequror with a few remote armor repairs, tractor beams, and drones.
Any suggestions on fitting changes?
Probably sounds like over-kill to most of you lvl 4 missions runners, but we're newbs

Please please please check out the mission info on www.eveinfo.com before you accept it, fit your tank appropriately for the rat damage type.
Watch out for the missions which give you agro if you launch drones or bring friends, and decline Mordus Headhunters level 4.
Zor can be nasty as well if you are not careful.
Other than that, have fun!

I woundnt go as far as saying overkill Be prepared for anything. Like the other poster said, research the mission before you accept it. There are a few missions out there that could easily eat you and your friends if you are not careful.
Other than that good luck! and fly safe!

Edited by: Presidente Gallente on 16/10/2006 16:44:01 I also recommend: check always eveinfo.com before you fly into hell and death. Be careful with Worlds Collide, Silent The Informant and Mordus Headf*ckers!!! Kill always the scramblers/webbers first. Concentrate on smaller ships first. The whole gang should work in always in a team and aim on one target to get them down fast. In some missions drones will result full agro. Don't be heroes. In some cases a warp-out is better then go on escape course while tanking.
Some l4 are easy to deal with, harder ones like Extravaganza need to know how the spawns will react on agro them. But easy to clean up in a team.
If you need to explore a complex first, simply enter with a Shuttle. If shot down, no problem. Just do sightseeing in your pod to figure out some tactics first and report screenshots to your gang mates.
I did some easy and harder l4's in a BC [Brutix] solo but with a good skillplan within the last months. If you are not that far away from AUNIA call me for backup. But I am still cruising around with a Brutix and t2 fittings.

Have light drones for interceptor / frigates. a buddy with bs guns is going to be no help with those frigates unless he's got small or medium drones. Frigates can be dispatched in short fashion with 5x tech 1 light drones or 5x tech 2 medium drones, but tech 1 medium drones are not so hot vs frigs.
Get your drone skills up asap as you continue to do l4s. It's a dominix's best attributes, besides its dashing good looks .
I would recommend skipping Enemies Abound l4 as a newb gang, and like others have said Mordu Headhunters l4. Your friends will be targetted for extermination by the guristas side of World's Collide l4 in the first zone called the 'warzone'. World's collide is a rare mission where taking friends actually makes it harder to do with aggro patterns. Be aware of that and perhaps skip that one too (it's only offered by low sec agents anyway).
Your t2 hardener / t2 large rep tank should be extremely solid by itself. Get your cap recharge up, you want to run one rep constantly and add the second one in sparsely for added repairing. Your friend can continue to run some logistical support for you until you guys gain experience.
Always have the tank warp in and aggro first. He should align to warp out in case things go wrong. Others should follow behind closely, align to the same object, and you all should insta-warp out if things go wrong.
You will find that you've overtanked most l4s setup this way, and eventually more and more logistical support should become added damage/sec to allow for faster mission completion. Your bounties are being split 3 ways, so later on (after getting experience with the missions) you guys really will wanna hustle through in order to allow everyone the best possible income.
That's all I can think of. Fly safe. Krav =====

When you take on a L4 mission, your first priority are the battlecruisers, then the cruisers, then the battleships, then the frigates. However, if you have multiple people, you can probably have someone take care of those tacklers for you so that your tank can escape if necessary.
Also, I've never run a L4 mission with someone else, but I know that many of them screw up when a second entity enters the area (i.e. your drones or another player) and you get full aggro which can spell death for even the strongest of tanks. I'd recommend in those situations that one of your buddies be a designated repairer with a fully sustainable repairing setup as well as repairing drones to aid the tank.

ItĘs a good idea if you and your group add tags to your overview. This way the leader can tag the ships he want the group to shoot first. If the mission you get has more than one spawn and one of your group shoot the wrong ship you could agrow more the one spawn at once. On some missions the spawns are not always clear cut, if you are uncertain shoot only one rat and you will see the other in that spawn agrow.
Good luck

Let us know what system you are doing the missions in and i am sure someone will be able to help you out for the first few missions. Even if it is just to sit back and keep a watch on you to help only if you need it.
Most that have been playing for quite some time do lvl4s with no backup, so they will be more than able to help.
Sometimes we do lvl3s in an Assault ship just for fun

One essential piece of advice hasn't been mentioned yet:
Don't panic.
Even if you see the whole stage light up and aggro, you will still have - in most cases - plenty of time to think and make rational decisions.
Even in full stage aggro situations you can survive, just kill the scramblers and webbers first and fly away from the rats towards a warp out target. Then proceed killing the cruisers and battlecruisers first then battleships and then all the rest.

I started lvl4 in a named tech1 domi going solo, so it should be no problem for you guys. This also means, I'm doing the missions sniper-style with sentry drones. I always take out the frigs first, because my sentries and rails can pop them when they still approach, then it's cruiser, BC and BS's last. The reason is simple: fist, the smaller ships approach faster, thus if you snipe, you have to shoot them earlier so that they don't get too close. you can snipe the bigger still ones later on second, if you compare the ratio of dps vs. hitpoints, (= damage the rats do vs. time it takes to kill them), the smaller ships are the ones where you can reduce the incoming damage the fastest.
PS: lvl4 Mordus headhunters is a fun mission, I solo in a single rep Domi. In the second stage, start and max range (80 km for me), just shoot 1 bobcat and then run until the spawn clears everything else. It will leave about 1/3 of the cruiser behind. still lots of dps, but until the first ships are in firing range, a good part is already dead, and the rest strung out along 40-50 km so that you can pick them easily with hvy drones or whatever you feel like.

Alright, I have a mission lined up I'd like to try out. Rogue Drone Harrasment The one thing I wasn't anticipating was having to tank against all damage types. What do you guys recommend I use to buff the resistances on my Dominix?

Edited by: Presidente Gallente on 19/10/2006 08:47:18 Did that a while ago in a Brut. I think I used double N-Type Therm-, Explosive- and a Multi-Hardener. Repper II, 90% Webber, 2x Cap Recharger II, AB II ... normal 250mm/Dual 150mm Proto Rails. 5x med Drones. Strategy is always: staying in action and keeping distance and switching to close combat if necessary ... with a Brut. I think in a Domi with good Drones and Gunnery skills it's a sightseeing job. Good loot ISK when I remember right.
Live strong skilled!

This is a relatively straight forward mission as long as you do not cause mass agro. A simple technique is to fly to about 60km from the nearest drone, that agro that single drone. This will cause that drone's whole group to agro you back and as long as the group only attacks that group of drones you should be OK. If you are a little nervous, target the 'strain' drones in a group first as these are the webbers / scramblers.
As for tanking, in a Domi I would use a LARII, T2 Exp, Kin and Therm active hardeners and a T2 EANM. I'd probably top this off with a couple of cap power relays in the lows to allow for a permatank.
TBH, you shouldn't need to turn on the tank in the first room as you should be able to easily control agro and range. You do need a tank in the second room, but the one described above should be perfectly adequate especially if your group mates are helping take down the drones.
Not sure where you run your missions, but feel free to convo me in game if you have any questions.
Cheers, Arrs.
