Edited by: Waut on 18/10/2006 11:35:12 Right now, when a player is getting ganked and has no chance to escape, he has the option to go down with his ship or eject his pod before in blows up, in the hope he can escape. In both cases there is still a large chance he gets podded as well.
I was thinking that by increasing the chance of survival by ejecting (say, make the pod unlockable for a few seconds or have it ejected out of the ship at a couple of 100 m/s) you would have 2 advantages:
- The victim: might have an expensive clone (high sp) or expensive implants fitted and ejecting might be a better option than going down with the ship. Who knows, maybe people who log off when under attack chance their habits too.
- The pirate(s): far less chance to get the pod, but having a fully fitted unpiloted ship infront of them. They could board it and loot its cargohold before blowing it up or simply switch ships when the ship is worth more than what the pirate is flying.

thanks but no thanks :)
I prefer killing the pod... if ull give it 10 secs all pods would become invulnerable :/
Well this might encourage peoples in pvp more but hell - i like the way it is when your ship is going down and u feel the adrenaline filling your blood vessels :D

Just make the "manual eject" option, you know, ACTUALLY eject you, not just *plop* you right next to your ship. That should be for when your ship is actually destroyed.
I am thinking bounce-from-warp-exit-within-a-station ejection type... huge initial speed, slowly going down to max normal speed. __ Always question everything. Including yourself. |

The captain always goes down with his ship!

Actually, that's a really neat idea. Have manual eject forfeit insurance and leave your entire ship and setup to your aggressors, but give your pod a very high chance of escaping from at least the immediate conflict. If you really want the pod, you can catch it at a gate or station later on, but in the meantime you've got their whole ship to loot/hijack.
Vagabonds would benefit a bit more than anything else, since they already have the capability to beat battleships and lock pods, but that's a problem with the vaga, not with this idea.

I would say a worthy trade for this working would be to make the ship invulnerable for 10 sec so the winner has a chance of stop firing to take the ship.

Ship invulrn could get nasty, guy ejects, gets back in ship wtfpwns oponent in a close fight. How about a box in your options next to the how many auto-targets do you want that says, "Stop shooting on Eject"? Then if the numnutz punches out your guns stop autocycling. Meanwhile the pod needs to be moved inconviently far from the ship, 1-2km sound good? And just to keep them fair I'd disable this "super eject" from shuttles and noob ships. That much movment will hamper targeting for the attacker so no special targeting problem needs to be heaped onto it. The pod will likely escape and the Pirate will likely be left with a dammaged but fully fitted ship and people in shuttles and noob ships won't become near impossible to kill.

lol should be able to set the destruct so that it pods the next one who boards it in the ship explosion.(you know like what kirk did to the Klingons in Startrek III when he beamed them to the enterprise with the auto destruct on)

A pod launching at the speed of a shuttle won't change much unless they try to pod you with a hauler.
To make a pod unlockable for a few seconds means no one ever will get podded considering how quick they enter warp.

So have the pod eject at the speed of a missile. Make it go 40km at 4000m/s in a random direction. A lucky interceptor might grab it, but odds are you'll get away.

This is actually quite plausible. You could say that it's more difficult to lock on the egg because of all the small pieces of debris and gases left after the ship exploded. However, it shouldn't be completely unlockable after the explosion. Only HARDER to lock on it. And this should be the case ONLY for a few secs after the pop - shouldn't matter in any other circumstances.
