I am extremely interested in Valkrie primarily due to my own assumption that a similar level of depth will be in the game as seen in EVE Online such as rich community features, deep equipment options and roles, or otherwise a huge sandbox in which you can set personal goals and work to obtain them.
Having already played Elite Dangerous quite a bit I have seen how cool and fun a modern day Wing Commander can be. But after several weeks with it I was left feeling bored and tired of the repeated activity doing the same things over and over. This led me to try out EVE Online and I have been completely addicted to the depth found there.
What I am wishing for is something of a mix between the two. Something nearly as cool to experience as Elite Dangerous yet also even a fraction of the depth found in EVE Online.
Is Valkyrie slated to be such a product or is it just a PvP combat shooter? |

Valkyrie will be more "arcadie" but still have depth. Our goal is for it to be easy to pickup and intuitive, but hard to master with depth through customization and ship combinations.
We haven't outlined our exact progression plans yet, but you customise how you play mainly through "Ship loadouts" (variants on the main ships, different abilities, weapons etc) and upgrades where you can customise existing systems through a skill tree.

Some form of on-going campaign between player-organized wings would be pretty rad, however it's broken up; what's more, a persistent system where you have to worry about biomass, salvage, and munitions would also be rad. One of the hallmarks of EVE is that every loss and kill has consequences, however small. I'd expect this to be separate from 'simulator' pick-up games, or faction-backed Valk play where Guristas/Serp/etc where the faction maintains supply.
(Also, a tangent: as an EVE player super enthused about Valk, I know tons of us would love Valkyrie flight-suits as apparel in EVE. ;D )

An excellent example of why pod killmails are the best feature to be implemented in EVE Online since warping at zero.
