w00t! Congratulations Ecliptical!
Taken from the May 29th 2003 Devchat at EveGate . <Muaddid> Q: When will sentry gun and station and similar construction pods be introduced on the market? <Hellmar> we have various player owned entities already implemented. Sentry guns, power/shield generators, field repair mini-stations, mobile refineries. We are still working out the last tidbits of how they can be over taken, what is the penalty of having a sentry gun kill a n00b etc. and we have been a bit busy with plugging the holes that people have found.I would say that you'd start to see these items on the market in about 2-3 weeks, very expensive to begin with |

It was a pretty awsome performance. Ecliptical and his team won all their matches, usually 4-0
Total superiority. And you would have thought that the more war-like Sarum would have had better fighters...
On a side note, Ecliptical fielded a team of four punishers. Obviously, skill and tactics were involved (as will be evident when you see the videos), but it is still speaks volumes about the quality of that ship. ------------------------------------------- "My main griveance with the Caldari state was that once I had finished my work for them, they wanted me dead."

... With no ew, small arena and with seriously limited usage of missiles/drones, the ships with heaviest shields/armor and with natural bonus to both the amount of damage dealt from most dangerous turrets and to the capacitor recharge rate actually turned out most succesful. Go figure ;s

Congrads to the winners.
However, this might damage the intergration of the rich culture of eve into the physical game.
Now that there is an emperor that will negociate peace with the Minmats, perhaps one of the greatest and most powerful racial divisions and conflicts, the Minmat-Amarr situation, has been severally declawed. The cold war that was building up to a breaking point has been disarmed.
Now, this might seem to be a democrat's wet dream, but it is a writer's worst nightmare. There is no greater sin concerning premature closure than peace in our time. No only does it close the door on increased player involvement, but it also closes doors on alliances and race-based friction.
Not only has this ruin the Amarrian pride of being the masters of the Minmatar, but it also erases the sole Minmatar drive: to extract retribution on the Amarr for crimes against them. Corps like Oracle and PIE will lose the drive to RP war against each other, as the division between the races diminish.
At this point, there are only a few things that could happen after this turn of events:
1) The 4 losing heirs commit suicide, end of discussion.
This seals the Minmat-Amarr cronicles closed, as no other original, interesting, or believable storyline can emerge from it. This is the safest bet, as the lofty human need to end conflicts is prevailent in everyone.
EVE Life left after this outcome - One year TC departure after outcome - Immediate
2) Sarum and/or Ardishapur withdraw from the suicide ceremony and join Khanid in his kingdom. With this comes two possiblities: ______a) Amarrian Civil War ensues, dividing the great empire. ______b) Khanid Kingdom is the only part of space that Minmatar are not welcome in.
Out of these two outcomes, perhaps "b" is the more probbible, as again, it's a safe way of dealing with events and underlying themes. As with not welcoming Minmatar, only those Minmatar serving the Minmat Republic-endorsed corps will be unwelcome, those Minmats in player corporations are not subject to this. I do not think CCP has the ability nor the desire to figure out how to maintain a civil war. With current features, allignment does not really affect you in any way. Civil War would be a "suggested" option, not a required role.
EVE Life left after this outcome - One and a half years for "a", one year for "b" TC departure after outcome - No time soon for "a", soon for "b"
3) Minmats betray Kor-Azor, and enrage him into war.
This would require a big, negitive change in policy and the story line concerning the Amarr-Minmatar conflict. Having the Minmats do something stupid to bring war upon themselves is unbelievable and laughable. I believe it would be fabrication rather than culture-based history. But again, war would be suggested, not enforced.
EVE life after this outcome - One year TC departure after outcome - Soon
4) Sarum and/or Ardishapur overthrow/assasinate Kor-Azor and claimlordship over the Amarrian Empire.
Now that is a plot arc. Amarrian pride and meglomania incarnated in a more darker and questionable fashion. War is still a viable option, extending racial tention life. Certainly this is absolutely pushing player involvement, but it is a believable plot arc.
EVE life after this outcome - at least two years TC departure after outcome - definately no time soon
Out of all of these, 1 and 2b are the most likely to come out of this situation.
I think CCP is a little relieved at this outcome has come, because it would insigate the need to make race matter, which it seems they are no where close to touching, either though need or want. Though conversations I have had with other players, they have complimented EVE for having the most original material ever in any kind of video game, but they have problems with the fact that the rich culture has absolutely no bearing on the physical game itself. It's like a hollow chocolate easter egg: it looks big and mouth watering, but once you bite in you realize that there's nothing inside.
I hope CCP is more resouceful than I think it is in creating content concerning the Minmat-Amarrian friction. The thought of Amarrians and Minmats being allowed to skip through asteroid belts holding hands and licking rocks makes half of your backstory utter **** and a waste of your time. I am not flaming those who wrought this decision and outcome on us. Those players deserved their victory, and I accept their victory.
I just hope that you got a card up your sleeve, or else perhaps one of EVE's saving graces, the racial divide, will be lost.
