I think all ships should be left the way they are. They are creative and each have their own looks to each their owners. If you don't like how a ship looks, deal with it or just don't fly it so you don't have to look at it. Unfortunately for your philosophy some game companies like to have A a cohesive aesthetic and B modern graphical quality. This means old things need to be updated so they dont stick out when compared next to new things. |

I loved the old maller, and if you will notice, the confessor shares similarities to all these new ship models being crapped out by CCP: they have these long spindly pylon things sticking out and paddles, and/or they look like frisbees (blackbird, orthrus).
The old ship designs all had racially based architecture, from smooth and streamlined (amarr) , to lumpy/curvy and asymmetrical (gallente), to blocky and utilitarian (caldari), and finally spindly, pylons, narrow yet rectangular (minmatar).
They've started flushing all the uniqueness of ship designs into some homogenized half-assed copypasta models. Maybe they're not paying their art department enough. Maybe they fired the old team. Maybe a higher up is pushing for bad ship models.
Do those models look good? Sure. Do they take away from the flavor of EvE? Definitely. They look like free domain spaceship artwork you can find anywhere on the web instead of being the old models that were definitely inspired designs...
...Simple minds like simple designs. Asymmetry is not simple. Exequeror - Apparently wings jutting off in random directions was a clever and sophisticated design.
Tristan - Didn't even change much, became no more symmetrical than it was
Moa - Now you are just being silly. It didn't even fit the Caldari motif of utilitarian design. Limp neck and weak wings connecting important looking parts of the ship aren't typically know for their enhancement to function.
Also the racial distinction is still extremely strong IMHO. Amarr has ornate plated armor in a way no other race has. Caldari actually looks more utilitarian rather than simply not caring about exterior design. Gallente is just old Gallente cleaned up abit for the most part, though I'm on the fence about some of the details on the Exequror. If anything Minmatar has changed the most with ships like the Stabber departing from the look of having the minimal viable construction holding it together, so I suppose we can grant that.

Why is that a bad thing? Stick out because you had good ideas and the game succeeded to this day based on those ideas. Why flush em to "look like everyone else"?
Also, the tristan lost its elegance and became fugly with those side bulges that were added to it, and the loss of the smaller side wing.
At 5 drones of T2, the Tristan is nearly as powerful as the Algos, with a cheaper price tag, better maneuverability and speed, and smaller sig radius to avoid the lazy carebearish T3 station blapping -10s who have no life. Pick tristan for FW.

There is in no way such a thing as 'looking like everything else' when it comes to any ship in this game. Don't be absurd. |

I will unsub if you make my Omen Navy and Omen Khador less sexy. I swear I will. however, release a Blood Raider omen? Yes. Then I will spend more money on this game. Also Sarum Punisher... murr. |

You leave my Slicer alone! She's perfect just the way she is.
Most of the other ships you listed are fine as far as I'm concerned. Omen, Tormentor, Executioner are all great looking ships. |
