My theory is that Rogue Drone AI is viral. Once your own drones have fought them, they're contaminated, and start getting ideas of their own...
I regularly use heavy drones at 70k range. I've not yet noticed them deciding to move on to easier target instead - but I have noticed that they will move on to targets that aren't currently fighting after killing their current target. This might just be the rats initiating combat with my drones, but I've suspicions that the drones are becoming independant again....

Think you're right, it never did it when I had say, all praetors or all ogres. Once I slapped 2 Ogres in with 3 Praetor, the ogres went rogue and wandered all over the place randomly. ---

I think you might be right! as they DID fix that problem, and it was fixed by me, untill I started having Berserker IIs in my bay with my Ogre IIs. and now my Ogres started going "I do what I want to"

I have the impression that it only happens with heavy drones, but it might also be because they're the slowest so they take more time (say, more than 20 seconds) to reach their targets. _very_ annoying though.

I had the following happen to me recently.
Had kill rights on player A. Engaged him in hisec with drones in front of a station. Player A docks in that station. I get concordened.
Petitioned it.
Logs showed the following: I got concordened for aggression to player B. Logs did not show why/where/what, but I am sure I had not targeted more than one player and not told my drones to engage or my modules to activate on player B. Logs did not show anything else, what commands I gave or who locked who, shot at who etc. So no reimbursement :(
But the really disappointing part: GM told me he had never heard of any drone aggro bugs, nor have several other GMs he talked to about it :(

Then the GM doesn't use drones much. I get this with light drones, all of the same tyoe too. I don't know hat causes it, but one thing I wonder about, is if it's related to the same troubles that cause range errors, and the drones just lose target because the system is telling them they're out of range of your assigned target. Why they pick anything within range that isn't you at that point I couldn't even begin to guess at. J.A.F.O.

Edited by: Damien Smith on 23/10/2006 10:54:15 I've noticed that the bugs fixed before the dragon patch have returned when the patch was done. I'm sick of drones getting stuck on each other, stopping 1501m from your ship, coming back to your ship at orbit speed, etc. Warrior II's are the worst culprits for these bugs, but Hobgoblin II's seem to be the best behaved out of them all. They're the only drone that you can trust to get back in your bay while you're aligning to warp out and do it pretty much every time.
I want an option to name drones, just like you can name your ship. I had a Hobgoblin I that I called Bob that was my faithful companion and stayed by my side during the many excursions in my TackleHelios (o' doom). Ask any member of Turby who was the 1337est drone and they'll tell you. Bob was loved by all. Many a pod was killed by the brave drone until his up until then long and fruitful life was cut short by friendly fire. He had survived countless fights with nothing more than a sliver of structure and still came back for more. I want to name Bob's replacement, an up and coming Hobgoblin II, 'Bob' in his honour.
Go on CCP, do it for Bob. ----------- Join channel 'Turby' or die! (bring pie) Mission running carebears drop good loot. Probe one out today! I <3 carebears on toast ^^ - Xorus I'll trade you some carebears for some sheep -Tirg +=♥ - Immy |
