Most of the things have been said, but I'd just like to add something:
There was a great outcry on the forums regarding AFK miners in industrials in high sec!
Pretty similar to how macro miners are being flamed right now. Except people didn't suicide in high sec back then as they do now. Even though there was a level 1 Q-20 bribable CONCORD agent in Yulai.
Oh, and all roads led to Yulai, where they promptly stopped due to lag - What am I listening to? |

For a time there, the community was pretty horrible towards you guys... but I think its been getting abit better lately? At least im happy as long as I stay out of ship balance threads... --- Eve Wiki | Eve Tribune | Eve Pirate |

Heh
Stacking mwd's 4TW
Putting cruise missiles in a standard launcher. Kestrels with 4 standard launchers with 2 cruise missiles in each launcher. A good group of 5 or so Kestrels could take on anything. :)
I remember my CEO getting into a Moa at the time and shooting down rats in a .4 with Torpedos while we mined. Getting our ***'s kicked out there when he didnt kill them quick enough too ;)
EVE Radio getting a huge group of people in newb ships to attack mOo space!!! :D
Being able to pretty much claim an area of space and not even have to defend it because you never saw anyone.

This nostalgic circle-jerk seems to pop up at least twice a year. People take the rosy "new game feel" memory of EVE and create a mental picture of the perfect game, even though it has progressed and evolved by leaps and bounds since launch.
EVE is a lot better game today than it was three years ago. You just take all the good stuff for granted. ------------------------------------------- "Never underestimate the power of language."

Hmmm, didn't see anyone saying how nmuch better it was. Personally, I think it was a lag-ridden, horrendously ballanced joke of a game to start with. Some changes made in going from beta to live were moronic (infinite numbers of BPCs instead of a max of 3 BPCs from a BPO spring to mind) and the first expansion nearly made me quit the game altogether.
Right now, I think it's pretty damned stable and enjoyable (even with the current state of node deaths) and Kali looks as if it'll make it even more so. |

The only major change I don't agree with that the developers have made to the game is the extremely flawed tech 2 BPO system. I think the system should have been exactly like agent LP offers are today.
Other than that, I've seen nothing but improvement to the game since I started playing.

Nostalgia isn't what it used to be, I remember proper nostalgia before CCP changed it, those were the days...
