I agree with the modules being the issues, not so much the 'race.'
Of all the races, Amarr armor is 'supposedly' the strongest. Our laser weaponry is supposed to be pure destruction. We are neither quick, nor agile. And when it comes to diversity, we know that as long as we are diversifying our fitting between armor and lasers, we have what we need.
Arrogant. Powerful. Single-minded. That is what being Amarr is about.
- There needs to be a full set of hybrid and laser damage types. Plain and simple, it is a very easy solution to a long-standing argument.
- I agree with switching the rate-of-fire bonus with a turret damage bonus. By pure math, I've heard arguments on both sides. But reasoning tells me that if you increase rate-of-fire, you use more cap per second. More cap effectively neutralizes that 10% cap per level. Seems like a huge, endless circle.
- Lasers should probably have a second-best damage statistic, but I personally feel that they should be able to reach out at the longest ranges (they are light, after all).
- Fitting requirements suck, but they suck on a lot of other races ships, too. I've only really tried to fit Amarr and Gallante, but my beginner Minnie alt is having a few issues too. Guess it goes with the territory.
- ECM. Being addressed. It's a pain in everyone's backside, but I kinda feel it's right for Amarr to have weak resists (one-track minds, remember?).
- Amarr armor MUST BE SECOND TO NONE. Seriously. Make us slow and hard to turn, but dam-it, there isn't any reason why we can be out-tanked by any other race.
Again, to summerize:
Strengths: Laser's do great damage in medium to long ranges. Armor is the strongest there is or can be. Meant to be the 'meat' of any fleet engagement where destroying the enemy is the utmost importance.
Weaknesses: Weak against ECM (what's that computer thingy-majig do?). Weak against short-range encounters (note the Jovian conflict). Lack of variation on weaponry (little to no missile slots, small drone bays, few medium slots). Poor shields. Slow and cumbersome.
