I'm wondering, with the addition of several new regions in the east, who's actually going to end up moving in in there?
It looks like all the long jumps lead to the regions of Venal, Tenal, Vale of the Silent, Forge, Geminate, Molden Heath, Great Wildlands, Insmother, and especially Cache.
That means that Razor Alliance, CDC & Pure, Veritas Immortalis, and Red, all stand a pretty good chance of actually moving in there. The monster powers, like Bob and ASCN are too far away, Avatar or no Avatar. So, that leaves the comparatively minor powers to divvy it up, there. Who's realistically in a position to take control of the new regions? I imagine we'll see a north-south split between two big powers. I'll be really intrigued if a whole new alliance claims it as a home. That's a lot of ways in to that territory, 13 as compared to, say, Bob's 7, a lot to choke.
This is all rampant speculation, of course. Thoughts?

I predict freelancers moving in at first, then we'll either see an expansion of the nearby alliances, or new alliances formed.
The new regions could both be used by recently defeated alliances or splinter groups from the current ones as well.
It should get pretty exciting. ------------------------------------------- "Never underestimate the power of language."

I will take over the new regions! With my fiercesome two-man corporation of doom I will rule these regions with an iron fist.
Hopefully, though, they'll remain contested for a long time, making room for us small fish to profit off the corpses of the bigger fish.

anyone have a few good images of the new map layout? connecting systems? new bottlenecks? betting the first ships through the new gates are intercepters making BMs, followd by recons full of fuel to call in carriers full of all manner of interesting things.
hmm.. leapfrog a dozen carriers or so full of supplies out to the new edge of deep space and get those POSs down and running. and hope to find some ice to get home with :)

I have found a constellation with the mean bottle neck.

5+ systems of bottle necking into the area -

I found two good screenshots in this thread
Central view, new regions A more northernly view, connections to Venal/Tenal.
Quite possible, about those recons and carriers. With those in play, things get interesting very quickly. Anyone know if there will be stations already seeded out there? I find the difference between PC stations and NPC stations a little confusing, but I'm wondering if there'll be any infrastructure at all.

According to the last dev blog (I think?) on the subject, no. No infrastructure of any kind, which means basically if you actually want to settle out there, you need to build an outpost.

It's going to be harder to settle/attack these systems from the northern regions as it's impossible to jump dreads in that way. Maybe not a huge issue but it needs to be considered.

The main northern alliances have friends in both Trib and Vale. They won't have problems getting dreads and other cap ships down there if they want to. ___________________________________________ The deeper you stick it in your vein, the deeper the thoughts there's no more pain. ___________________________________________

Alliance 0.0 is getting crowded and violent, they want to give alliances some new raw, unspoiled land to settle and make their own. If you've ever been to the Great Wildlands you'll know theres plenty of 0.0 space with stations that are barely ever visited by anyone, alliance, individual or otherwise. You don't need new regions for individuals, they're not done with what they've got, yet.
Besides, CCP know that everyone who is wanting to go to 0.0 is either already there, or can get there as it already is. Most people still in Empire won't be tempted to move out there by a new region, however well setup for them. -----------------------------------------------

Edited by: Phoenix T''ril on 24/10/2006 21:31:53 An outpost, or a lot of POS. POSes are irritating to actually use to outfit ships with, though, as I understand. I know if given a choice, I'd never outfit a ship at a POS, from the involved process that I've read up on.
I've never ventured into 0.0 much as yet. Only a few months old.
But my gods, if there's no stations, that's going to be a pain in the ass. Definitely, the capships will become essential for any deep range operations out there. Probably part of the plan.

Most likely the NPC corps will join together and take a few of these reasons. They have been waiting for the right moment to move out to 0.0 and I think that this will be the perfect time to do so. --------------------------------------------- Forum Wars!...Because the battlefeild is laggy. |

theres gonna be alot of preperation for the day the regions open. i expect every alliance will have carriers inbound, the instant they can log in. its gonna be a massive race, especially as soon as good mining systems open up. There'll be proper battles with that, no one will be able to anticipate what a battle in a fully empty region is like. We're gonna need a crapload of ships. I think where they are is designed to keep the super powers away, as long as possible, but if i were them, i'd get a foothold in a local system or get an agreement with the local alliances. this'll be an interesting time.

bob can't even take a system from hobbits, so that rules them out. Goons are supposed to be extinct, but then again that is only bob propaganda, so don't rule them out. RA/RAT will be there for the complexes of course, so you know they are going to be there. Northern alliances have the best chance since they are all napped.....
