I'm familiar with that 'slaughter' you were talking about, but I can honestly say I saw not one enemy. Even though I kept hearing "look at all the cans," I didnt see a thing. I was quite afraid that my name being what it is, I would soon be back in station, thankfully that did not happen. I really need a signature. |

Got a taste of that during the extraction op. Tempest in a deep safe spot, hopping over to the bookmark 600km above the exit gate, leaving warp -- no gate in sight. Actually, nothing in sight. 'cept the log message above my ship, informing me of an excellent hit from a small Amarr POS. And another... and... eeek. Got out with very little armor. Still no idea where that one came from.
Thanks for the great report, Seleene, been a pleasure!

Nice writeup Sel. We learnt a lot from this war, especially concerning server issues and how to work with their limitations. :)

We don't generally call by name. I tend to call by other variables. :) -

Someone should hire MC again real quick so we can get another awesome war story :)
On another note, i had fun the entire time, shame about the servers acting up like they did though.

Send it to me by evemail w/ a description and I'll see what I can do. The leadership is pretty tied up right now. ;) -

The gang reversed direction and warped closer to the gate and still there was nothing on my overview, or anyone else's in my gang. Yet the FIX guys were insisting, "THEY ARE RIGHT THERE!!!" Well, I'm not sure where 'right there' was but then, less than thirty kilometers away from me, a solid wall of enemy battleships and support just appeared. They didn't warp in; they just showed up from nowhere.
This is what happened to us in TOXIN when we went up to shoot the Razor egg a few months back... and happened when I was in FIX fighting in FAT vs the CODA a few times.
You warp to a gate (or whatever) and there's nothing there... and suddenly you start taking damage, and then the entire enemy fleet looks like it just spawns in front of you if you're lucky... when we went up to shoot the Razor egg we never even saw them, we just saw our shields, armor and structure melt inexplicably
Same here. I think it's a combination of server lag, client lag and the inability of your PC to process so much **** at one time.
Happens a lot when 100+ targets decide to show up on your overview all at once. It's clear, then suddenly it's red. If your computer is especially crappy (like mine) it even happens when you warp into asteroid belts. Warp to the belt and its completely clear. Wait a couple seconds, then suddenly everything appears right in front of you. ____________________________ Sig removed, lacks Eve-related content - Cortes |

Great post Seleene. That ZXIC gate engagement, I agree, was very strange. I had 2 people showing up in my overview at any one time, but they kept cycling so I could never really figure out what was going on. Only by some stroke of luck was I able to get my pod out after the lag of everyone showing up in the overview at once.
Overall it was a great experience to fly alongside MC during the times I did. Great decision making, great FC's, and great pilots. Cheers to those in IAC and McFix/Kia that kept it civil.

what would really interest me is the payment side. are u usually payd up front for a certain time with no regards to the outcome or are u payd after fulfilling the objective? just curious in case i want to hire you for something sometime later.

Thanks for the replies, all. I almost enjoy this more than making vids. However, now that Fraps will let me record at my preferred res (1600:900 windowed), I'll be back in the movie business soon. I'll still keep my finger over the screenshot key though. Maybe one day we really will get a War Story forum.

Yeah, it always looks pretty cool... just boring as hell. I actually wasn't there for that but Loxy provided the screenshots and was moaning about the slow warp speed on MSN.
I still think the Providence should be able to mount guns as it's damn near the sexiest ship in the game.

Every war has a surprise; you were the one this time. I had suspected that CVA might come in to assist and we were ready for that, but it was you guys and your US time zone players that really shifted the balance of numbers. The fact that AAA is on you now, a week after it would have made a difference, just makes all of us laugh / cry.
I've been saying to my people for a long time that at some point, we're going to run into a wall. You guys did an awesome job and deserve credit for it. I'm just ****ed that the game tends to decide the outcome of things more often than the actions of the players these days. From the strange sovereignty bugs, to the station ping pong to empty overviews, this contract tested my faith more than any other.
Lastly, I want to salute DHB FooFighter for presenting IAC's point of view and for being a class act during the whole affair. Oh, and your sig is funny as hell! Good show, m8.

Maybe we can figure out a way to do a war report in movie format?
We could possibly do the filming between the time that we request activation of our mods and the time that the mods actually activate.

Edited by: Heero Yuy on 26/10/2006 22:41:57 Most war stories are painfully boring and not worth reading - "we came, saw, killed lots, we're the best, you suck, the end".
Seleene, you're altogether different and in a class of your own on these forums. I have no particular interest in what took place during your contract, but damn me if I didn't love the story regardless. Should you ever tire of killing stuff, I hope you'll take up the mantle of war reporter instead - god knows EVE could use someone capable of writing pieces which aren't dripping with bias.

Great read! I wonder if there's any chance of this sort of thing getting into the Eve Chronicles. It does chronicle what goes on in Eve, so ...
Also, it's perfect for showing people who might want to join what the charm is all about. No other game in existance could spawn such interest stories about PvP. |

Guys, all the praise has Sel wandering around in a beret demanding to be called artiste`. Seriously, for our sake, no more ego stroking. Now there's talk of sculpture and oil painting. If I have to take my shirt off, I'm out of here.

It is really cool to hear our escapades dramatized like this. The only people anticipating a war story more than EVE-O is the MC. Then we all get to laugh and say, "lol! Armor bots against a dictor!" and the like (sorry Tyrrax, but that really is one of the best stories of the war, even if it was just a gag on your part )

Your forgetting one part of the story. Cant rember what gate it was but while you were bringing up more reinforcements they kept getting Qued (ftw) while jumping in. While the fleet in system was covering the gate. All in all i had a blast tho i was a little ****ed when my bs went POP. But it was my own falt for not having the right warp out point . Oh and to the IAC that looted my can can i have my tech 2 425's back .
