Slots are designed to be rare goods. Thus, you have to wait or find other means.
And that you're paying for a second account just to have him sit in a station - your decision.

Yup, Curse would be it. Admittedly not the safest place around but right now it probably has the majority of the open lab slots in the game. Works for those who know their way around 0.0

I think you are missing the point of Mazzilliu's post there. He is in snig.gerdly in case you missed that.

The problem with long queues for material research is not so much about newbies over-researching BPOs, but that people can deliberately feed trash into the research queue in order to reserve it for themselves. All they need to do is to clog up the research queue with disposable BPOs and alts, and then cancel the research when their main character needs to use that particular research slot.
Unfortunately, this rather despicable act is also the most efficient way to secure a research slot, and enterprising players can even turn a nice profit by abusing it. I have had some reservations about exposing this, but it appears to be another one of those issues that won't ever be fixed by CCP until its exploitation results in every lab slot in empire having a one year queue.

I'm not sure where the OP is looking, I have POS labs so I haven't checked in a while, but I just looked. I was able to find 6 labs where i was with NO wait time for ME research without even moving from the system I was in. Stop looking in Jita and Rens and try some other places, and there are slots available.
There are plenty of slots, the market doesn't need to be saturated any further.

Thats not entirely true sir,
cancelling a research job gives you back your print, thats all. the time in the queue allocated for the job remains allocated, and results in that queue not processing anything during that time, also the fee is not refunded, and materials used in research (R.Db etc) is also lost.
there is no way to "cut in line" with the queue system.

Edited by: Lyn Arinus on 17/11/2006 09:55:37 I don't know if subsequent BPOs in line will affect this, but the research slot was definitely freed up the last time I tested it.
Edit: Material lost is hardly a factor here, since you would obviously use a crappy T1 BPO for clogging the queue. The ISK cost is trivial as well, even in the most crowded stations.

i have tested this on POS and stations... I have put two jobs, one right after the other... when I cancel the first job... the second job still waited until the first would have finished anyway...
also... when i have just had a single job, when i canceled it, the slot at the station and the mobile lab did not become free.

Where? I have looked in three Empire (yes I know) regions and every slot is booked for the next 10 days at least. It's just a matter of being in the right place at the right time I gues.

Have you tried inserting two jobs at a station and then canceling the second one, instead of the first?

i have not tried this... but i have tried the following
(PE since it was the only one I could get an empty station with)
I insert a job that takes 4 hours to run... then cancel...
upon inspecting the station one of the slots still had 4 hours taken
