It's not a bug GÇö it's just a different kind of market than what you're used to.
When you put up a sell order, you're saying GÇ£I'm willing to part with the goods for at least this amount of moneyGÇ¥.
When you put up a buy order, you're saying GÇ£I'm paying this much, and not a penny more, to whomever is first in line to sell me the goods.GÇ¥
The buyer and seller never get to pick who they're trading with GÇö the brokers do, and they just pick the first guy in line to match your respective order. If you're buying, GÇ£the first guy in lineGÇ¥ is whomever has the lowest sell order (that still satisfies your price). If you're selling, GÇ£the first guy in lineGÇ¥ is whomever has the highest buy order (that still satisfies your price). It's not their job to get the best deal for either of you GÇö they just make the trade happen as quickly as possible.
This way, you can never be dissatisfied with your trade: as a seller, you will always get at least what you asked. As a buyer, you will never have to pay more than you want. Neither of you get to haggle for the final price; both set what you think is reasonable, and if your bids match, both get what you want. Yes, if there's a discrepancy, the seller will earn more than he actually asked for, but you were willing to pay that anyway, so no harm done.
