Edited by: Sally Va on 26/10/2006 11:53:41 Oh screw it, i wrote a whole essay about why RIGS shouldn't be put in, but it's just no use, because it's all been coded already...
*sigh*

So nobody knows what i'm talking about or can see it coming ?
Guess not many saw the decline of UO then when the devs started focussing more on gear than skills.
Anyhow, cheers, I love this game.

im sure everyone wanted ship tunning gear so..... just go with it,it opens tons of new possibilities ------------------------------------------------ When you get to the end of your journey, everything that really matters is the journey itself. |

I wasn't talking about paint.
Just items or 'rigs' that will make your ship behave better in a particular sitiuation.
It's almost as obscene as the whole T2 market/lottery.
The players with the isk (or RL money) will get the uber gear and pwn. I find that sad. It has nothing to do anymore with skills trained, or skills as a pilot.

As with everything else in EVE, there's a cost for that extra "edge" the rigs place on your ship.. It could be anything from the ship's speed, more CPU cost on turrets/launchers or even decreased shield/armor HP... So making your drones go faster costs CPU on your ship, nerfing it. Boost kontra nerf = balance (As I see it)

Ya what? I'm more than happy do take on a Geddon with say, a Thorax. Hell I've done it before.

Access to rigs will not be limited in the same way as t2 bpo's are, all you need are salvaging skills and the skills to make the rigs, I may be wrong on this, but I also think the t1 rigs will be seeded on the market in live. As for the implementation I am all for it, ccp seem to have struck a really good balance right off the bat, and the calibration points are a master stroke to prevent stupid setups.
Yes I have wanted to see something like this for ages, the current implementation is useful without leading to a must have gankship design. It was the same in Neocron with slotted weapons; balance needs to be carefully thought out. Limiting the number and type of rig using calibration works really well, although in time I am sure we will see the posts suggesting that rig x should really only cost 5 calibration instead of it's current 200 yada yada.

Except...
o You need skills to use rigs o You need skills to reduce the penalties from rigs o A high SP character with identical rigs as a low SP character still give the high SP character the advantae
This game was in desperate need of a PVP reset and far more customization. This patch delivers.

I'm well aware of what exactly RIGS will do. They boost something, they nerf something.
The point is, it's AGAIN geared towards ITEMS, and not SKILLS.
Any MMO(RPG) that wants to keep living has to do this, it seems.... in the end. That is when they run out of ideas to keep the playerbase playing and interested. So much time invested already and so much money to spend. Oh yea, let's just buy uber gear and be uber.
My point is, it's got nothing to do with player skills, actually the ability of the player to deal with situations and see what they can do about it, and react to it. It's on the other hand come down to who has the best T2/implants/RIGS.
Just think about it.
I know i loved this game as a beta tester once, and then i loved it throughout its entire history. But lately I see these new things being introduced taking turns for the worse.
Cheers And yea i still love EVE :-) And no you can't have my stuff lol

I dont see the problem really. It¦s just hardwiring for ships. No one complained about hardwiring implants when they were introduced, and they haven¦t unbalanced the game have they?

Ok, I admit, that's a minor link to actual 'skills' I'm pretty sure everyone will have those trained up in no time though, because rigs really make or break your setup.

no they dont i admit theyre help, but proper rigging isnt the "I-WIN" marked red button basically, there are few rigs that dont have disadvantages, but theyre so easy to use everyone can do so the other rigs there just simply help the ship to focus in "one" area you rig it to,and pretty much get worse in the other areas
i dont see a problem with that ------------------------------------------------ When you get to the end of your journey, everything that really matters is the journey itself. |

i dont see a problem with that
You know, the next thing they'll invent is a clone for your ship. So you died in a LVL 4 mission with your uber rig ? No problem, we got a clone ship ready for you at *insert station name here*
I'm just having problems with the whole 'item' focussed approach of EVE really. Don't want to get into details, because i could talk for hours about it.
You know what, i rest my case. You're all right and i'm wrong. The devs know what they're doing and they're not only after your money
Still cheers !
