Am I right in thinking the arrival of the new Ramsan at CCP server HQ looks something akin to this?

well, im in for the hope once again...
but after the last months of instability and performance not really gettin better im not so optimistic tbh - especially with kali coming weŚll see what happens after the first 2 weeks of constant patching.
anyways cruising thru 0.0 yesterday with about 30sec-1min jumping lag and emergency-warp-outs due to lag even when jumping into empty systems (while there was no big fight in the whole region - yea i know the clusters have not much to do with the regions but anyway..) and nearly getting killed in empire-outskirts cuz of the jumping-queue - all this things dont improve my gaming-exp and neither my optimism. sorry :( (well at least it cant get much worse tbh)
still hoping tho. and still i think we (players) got a similar dream as the devs.

Edited by: Jameroz on 30/10/2006 12:03:58 How much of current bandwidth is used for Tranquility and how directly does that effect latency? Is there difference between say 10% and 50% utilization? I can understand that when we're talking close to 100% utilization the latency skyrockets, but what about below 100% ?
How does this multihoming work ... is single person using multiple routes all the time or just one of the routes? __________

Oveur, I <3 you... I for one appreciate all the effort you guys put forth. Just wanted to let you know (although lag sucks, yadda yadda) there are some out here who truely do appreciate the effort and time all this takes.
so, we few podpilots who dare, salute you as well! o7

Edited by: Kronarty on 01/11/2006 22:26:47 I for one think these hardware upgrades will be insufficient to go back to the good old days of playable fleet battles.
Anything short of a full re-write of the EVE code to include dynamic allocation of processing power (+ general cleanup) and multiplying the available processing power by 2 will not be enough.
I think it is time for EVE 2 tbqfh. Get more coders, get the core game designers working with them and rewrite EVE from the ground up with all the knowledge you have now about what works and what doesn't. Buy twice the number of blades you have now working and import TQ's database after cleaning it up (bookmarks and random stuff)
You now have the money to do it.
It's not that I can't see the efforts, but this game's playability has been going downhill for quite a long time, and upgrades haven't really improved things but simply slowed the problems down. I think it is time for a change of strategy and some pretty radical changes.
On the other hand I am sure this is something CCP has already been discussing, so I am still playing hoping they will do something that will be worth the wait.

It's probably more of a matter of how you say it than what you say in this case.
My post, for example, was also negative. It may have sounded somewhat neutral, but in fact it's highlighing the fact that the overview - the single most important tool in PVP - is broken since Exodus hit the servers.
As you might have guessed, this is not something I consider to be a very good thing, which is why I was asking whether the overview would be fixed this time. Not that I expect a reply, much less a fix - it'll probably stay on the "bugs we won't acknowledge" list for a few more years, along with the jump queues and every bug that you make a bug report about that the devs later make a "we never heard of that issue before" post somewhere.

Well I had posted something in this thread about thinking twice about diverting all the harware from the test server and trying to test Kali well before releasing it. It seems to have been cleared without notification.
Unless of course I was drunk and the forums didn't take the post but it seems the thread is shorter than it was before as well

As I sit down to type this little note, I know full well it is likely going to get clipped. But, I try anyway in the hopes that a few people will read and take note of my words before they are censored. I bring to the community's attention just a few quotes from the dark past:
Oveur 09/16/2006 - "Thank you all for your patience and sticking with us through thick and thin, we will make it up to you in the near future."
Oveur 10/10/2006 - "To sum it up, in Samuel L. Jackson's immortal words: "We're on the mother******"
Oveur 10/26/2006 - "we're fixing at lightning speeds"
It took over 3 weeks of the community screaming "bloody murder" before the first quote back in September from Oveur. I am not being overly critical here, these are FACTS. So currently, from that time frame, we are look at a "poor" service period of approximately 100 days. For anyone that is keeping track, this is OVER an entire business QUARTER. So my questions are these: How many second chances do the management at CCP expect from the community? How long do they think is "fair and resonable" for us to wait for service to reutrn to acceptable levels? Am I, and others like me, being "impatient and demanding" when we have already waited over 100 days for what we were told was coming in the "near future"? Is the significant portion of the community who can't log in or get out of a station because of game killing issues supposed to keep paying for a game they can not play based on promises of improved performance, not one of which has been delivered in an entire business quarter? Does anyone feel any of these questions are unfair or more importantly inaccurate?
If some of the devs or managers could answer some of these questions fairly, honestly, and openly; I would deeply apprecaite it.
And, since Oveur is apparently so fond of quotes, heres one back for him: "Hope of a better future can only be sustained by progress today." - Abraham Lincoln *

strewth just wondered what they are going to put in the Hi slot , tractor beams to transport the new bits or a good old artillery to take out the comp. also long as its not a Cloaking device and dissappear on us (which I doont think so) .
