Hi there!
Im playing eve since Red Moon Rising and I love to play it. I saw many videos of EvE and then I started wondering why they changed the Missile Launch. Im Caldari and I love missiles. When Im sooting Missiles they come out everywhere of my ship. If my ship has it back turned to an enemy they come out from the back. In older versions of EvE they came out from the front, no matter if your back was turned to the enemy. So they came out from the front and then turned around to fly towards the enemy. Why did ccp changed that. That was looking so awesome!
Thanks for any answers I could get.
Im sorry for my bad english, Im german!

I think maybe they said the turrets rotate or something...that would be my guess. Not doing this sort of nerfs missles by increasing flight time even more. Okay by me ;)

Ive found missiles fairly rediculous in eve. They come out of anywhere and make comically large explosions. I think they should be made to look like missiles should, as you said. Also, your english was better than i expect from most people here who have english as their first language.

Edited by: nihilist117 on 26/10/2006 23:56:17 I like the idea that missiles are launched from a fixed bay and have to adjust course to hit the target. If CCP would re-implement that it would add some touch of realism to the game. They could just add .3 seconds to the flight time of the rockets, and up the speed by 2% to compensate.
About the size of the missile explosions. Isome of the missiles that ships sling are the sizes of tactical nukes, packing an equivalent punch. The explosions are entirely reasonable to me. Even a relatively small missile or rocket on Earth produces a kill zone of approximately 30meters. I have witnesses this first hand more times than I care to. It is amazing the amounts shrapnel, flame, and dirt that get thrown up by 107mm rockets.

Well...the thing is: Dirt, shrapnel, and flame shouldn't be equivelantly equal factors in space combat. The shrapnel would only come from shredded structure (I don't think the armor would fly to pieces so easily), and the flame wouldn't be anywhere near as big.
If they wanted to be extreme, they could make the explosions spherical....it would look cool, but would seem like a bit much at that point.
I whole heartedly agree with adding that small touch of realism to missiles though.

Submarines launch missiles straight up. Same could be implemented here. Straight up or down along the Z axis of the ship. Turrets already come in pairs. Not sure about launchers since I never used one.
Spherical explosions wouldn't make much sense since the goal of the missile is to hit the target, so explosion should be directed toward the target.
Shrapnels? Well I'd guess that ships have ablative armor of some kind. So it gets used up. :)
