I was wondering whether the dominix is really as powerful and good at pvp as most people say? I have never faced or flown one and was wondering whether they are really that much better than other bs's.

Edited by: Jim McGregor on 28/10/2006 08:54:34 They were overpowered because of ecm always never failing. So they used lots of ecm in the medium slots, combined with nos to suck the cap from the enemy while the drones (with damage bonuses) ripped the helpless enemy a new one.
After the ecm changes, I hope other ships get to shoot back, and then it wont be so bad anymore. It will still be a good ship though, because of the tanking it gets with all the nos on the target. Other ships can do the same, but they dont have damage bonuses to drones.

Its got NOS, which is really hard to counter atm (the only real counter to a lot of NOS is NOS of your own.) On top of that, its got ECM, which is really annoying, and again very difficult to counter. With all the cap from the NOS it can run a nice tank, and it can still do OK DPS (with a max skilled pilot, 475 DPS with ogre IIs)
The coming changes in Kali should make it more reasonable. If you take away its ECM, its just another NOS boat. Still a good ship, but not a solopwn mobile anymore. -----------------------

The thing about the Domi is itĘs the most flexible ship in game. Its not the best at much but it can do so much you never know what to expect. Passive shield tanking guide click here |

short range only PvP only, tbh.
Once your past 25 KM, the typical Domi setup's don't work.
And even the long range top out around 85 KM.

So I can bombard a Dominix w/ torps from my Raven at 60km and not even have to turn on my hardeners?

As long as he doesnt warp off and remember any tackler you thro at him has the pleasure of a plethora of drones.

Edited by: Barendar on 28/10/2006 11:14:40 Edited by: Barendar on 28/10/2006 11:13:54 well .. no .., drones can get out to 60km, it's just need a little more flight time (not entirely unlike your torps )
The point is at 60km he can't get you with his nos's/neuts and jamming which is really what makes those setups so powerful.
add to that there's a decent chance that he'll be depending on the extra cap from the nos's to keep his tank running (even more so after the hp boost goes in).
Of course it works both ways. If you stay at 60km you can't warp scramble him. If you want to actualy kill him you're going to have to close into range of his best weapons.
edit: yeah and what ^^ that guy said. You can't throw a tackler at him because he can easily drain it with nos's and a domi has more than enough room to carry a wave of mediums or lights in addition to his heavies.

if you let your cap be sucked dry, and then use a cap injector, to get exactly the cap you need to run your mods (good timing required), wouldnt that totally screw over a nosdomi?
i only tried it in some friendly practice, but it seemed to work.
im just wondering, because people are whining about nos a lot.

possible. But once the hp increase goes live, good luck carrying enough charges to keep those mods running for an entire fight.
