Edited by: Joseph Polaski on 29/10/2006 03:02:22 I'm going to take some time to construct the perfect combat osprey. Being a cheap, yet very reliable vessel, its good for PvPing, because if it pops, then you're not screwed.
Current Test Loadout(Note: It will take 4-5 days to get the skills to fly the Osprey and the current armanents.) Osprey: CPU / PW 275 475
High: 3x Dual 150mm's 96/240 1x Assault Missile Launcher 1 50/35
Med: Stasis Web 25/1 Warp Distruptor 40/1 Med Shield Booster 50/12 10MW AB 25/50 Low: Co processor 1 0/1 Small Armpr Rep 5/5 NanoFiber Internal 0/0
Total: 291 out of 294.5 CPU used. 340 out of 475 PW used.
Accepting suggestions! No flames please! This is an odd suggestion thread!

EDIT: I forgot to add, use either 2 medium scout drones or 4 light scout drones as well!

hmmm i'd say ditch all the lows you've got there and put in the following in the lows:
1 Magnetic Field Stabiliser I 1 Capacitor power realy 1 Power Diagnostic System
The PDS should give you enough grid to exchange the 3 dual 150mm rails for 3 200mm rails, that combined with the Mag field stab should give you a significant damage boost.
However I would suggest that you'll still lose most of your fights as the Osprey is not built for combat as well as most of the ships you will meet (it's the one with mining bonus iirc?)so you need to level the playing field through vast amounts of fast damage and EW. If i was gonna hit the battlefield with this i'd fit it for full gank with the mids for dampeners or jammers or maybe even dual reps in low and a cap booster possibly?
In fact try this:
3 blasters, best you can fit 1 assault launcher
mwd warp disruptor cap booster multispec jammer
2 medium armor reps 2 mag field stabs.
tbh you're still gonna run into trouble if you bump into anything with a Nos or any other cruiser or bigger but at least you might just stand a chance of outdamaging the guy or getting lucky and jamming him till he's dead.

The difference in cost between an actual combat cruiser and the Osprey is minor. You will probably die twice as often in the Osprey. Just buy the combat cruiser. Blackbird or Caracal are easy to get into.
That said, I have set up tanking mining Osprey's and they tank fine for low end belt rats. So trading the mining equipment for combat equipment should make for an ok combat cruiser.

I used dual 150's on my Vexor for a while and I can say they're less than spectacular
Might want to swap the afterburner for a boost amplifier if it fits. I don't sheild tank much myself, but they seem to be very popular in most active shield set-ups. __________________________________________________ Ever notice that people who say "problem solved" seem to have the worst ideas? |
