Egh, its a matter of personal choice, really.
Back when I was a pirate, I generally tried to randsom whenever possible. I just thought it was more fun that way, really. Signature graphic removed - please email us to find out why (include a link to the graphic in question) - Jacques([email protected])

Originally by: Gneeznow Evistin, sorry for your corp mates loss, but like monkeyking said if the nos domi was not there we would have ransomed.
The ferox and cyclone were all tech 1 fitted btw, it was the prophecy that was the gang lead and T2 fitted.
Curious why did you not just attack the domni instead of the hulk, you mention you thought it was a normaly barge. You guys charged in and took the hulk out 1st. -----------

when we warped in the hulk was 4500 metres away from us and top of the overview, thus it got warp scrambled first while we tried to figure out if the dominix was mining or not, dominix started spitting drones at us so all bets were off.
Either way it was the ferox pilots first PvP outing and we arent exactly the most organized ppl and when monkeyking1 is involved comedy mischief ganking is bound to happen . . . . . .

Edited by: Sylper Illysten on 30/10/2006 01:08:42 Just another example of players who want to blow up anything so they can sit around and chortle about how good they are. "OMG did you see how fast that hulk blew up!" It's an unarmed ship folks, it's like sniping newbies in a BS, a complete load of garbage. Pirate == Griefer.

Scramble the Hulk, take out the Dominix and there you have it, excuses about wanting to ransom but being unable is utter bull****.

I ransom when I A. The ship is very expensive and obviously not ready for combat B. The other person did not fight back C. The person requests a ransom, in which case I usually make it higher than normal

The Kill mail has you as the one who killed the hulk, so you have to be still firing on it when that happen.
Oh well it does not matter anymore. Just got to work on getting another one for my corp mate. -----------

The killmail and a crying carebear is more worth than 100mill isk.
And a Hulk on scanner is a invention for every pirate to come in.

I don't ransom anymore until the stab nerf comes. Offered a ransom to a ferox I beat in a thoraxe and he ended up getting away, when if I wouldn't have ransomed I wouldve killed him. ___

In this case, the ship kill/killmail is worth more to me than a ransom.

Hmmm... 100mil or the fun factor from blowing up 500+ mil isk in one go... I'd go for fun myself :)

I gave up expecting logical decisions from players sometime ago. Recently I got killed and podded in 0.0, not complaining as it was my failt for taking a risk. I had collected a pile of unsaleable junk ratting and needed to haul it somewhere for reprocessing, so I filled up a Sigil, fitted a couple of stabs, nano, minimal tank and tried a quick run to a station with reprocessing. Unfortunately at the one gate I did not have an insta for I ran into trouble. A player with positive sec from a neutral alliance not known for piracy and in an area at least 10 jumps from there claimed territory, flying a Hugnnin. So I took the chance and ran for the gate.
Anyway he killed me, which although annoying I can understand as the loot might be worth something (it wasnt really but he couldnt have known that). Podding me earned him a killmail it is true but frankly he might have gotten a ransom out of it had he asked. Not much as that body had no real implants but he might have done.
All he has achieved to to ensure that I will kill and pod him or his alliance mates when I come across them, and I do see them in this section of space, often alone and quite vulnerable as it is fairly uncontested and peaceful. Had he at least attempted a ransom I would not feel so strongly about it.

Originally by: dantes inferno you can blame the people who do the follwing for this type of event:
1) people who will flame and insult someone who asks for a ransom 2) people who use ransom talks as a delyay to get reinforcments in 3) the sheer amount of people who go around advicing people not to pay ransoms. 4) the amount of peole who will rather die than pay a ransom
You forgot:
5) The stories from people that paid the ransom and then got blown up anyways
