Don't skip Fumoffu! It's the funniest series ever. Full Metal Panic itself, however, is from what I've seen (2 or so episodes) and heard (several trustworthy sources) just boring mecha blabber.
FMP in it's core is like a mixture of comedy and action.
Fumoffu is the extreme comical position of it.
loved the bio-weapon thingy episode btw. -------

yap, Ghost in the Shell(2 movies and 2 seasons kick major ass) way to spread the love
And the third movie.
A certain bay of pirates has a certain torrent that a certain DS uploaded
I'll jump on the I <8 DS train. Been waiting for a reliable sub release GITS:SAC rocks the GITS movies rock. I dont think the Mamoru Oshii films should be compared too much to the series in which one is better, they are both different.
Make sure to buy the Appleseed film (not the OVA with the 80's manga artwork) its a great film and the first 10 minutes are really cool, and the rest is just a great sit back and enjoy film.

Recently watched NGE, pretty **** good. Watched Ghost In The Shell before that, that was awesome as well. Then watched Appleseed. Ugh. The plot was terrible, it looked great, but I saw everything coming a mile away.
Gonna sift through the rest of your list there DS. ---

Not that thats any different from most movies these days...
The 2004 Appleseed film is like a good James Bond. You know whats gonna happen, but its fun while it happens.

FMP, the first series, is easily the weakest of the three. Both in animation quality and in writing. I can kind of understand skipping the first series, but skipping Fumoffu should be a crime.

Only one mention of Haruhi Suzumiya? Blasphemy
Spotted this AMV earlier, I think its great.
Mahou Shoujo Lyrical Nanoha A's is pretty awesome, first series wasn't so good though. Kenshin is also great (TV then Movie is a must)I am surprised only me and Pardux have mentioned them so far.

much <3 to this thread, gives me something to whittle away the time left til DT finishes and a good excuse to grab a big pile of dvds.
Trigun Cowboy Bebop Naruto Fist of the North Star Ergo Proxy Great Teacher Onizuka Samurai Champloo Samurai 7 Fumoffu/Full Metal Panic Appleseed (2004 <3) Ghost in the Shell Princess Mononoke Spirited Away Laputa Gungrave Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust Karas (AWESOME!!) Escaflowne The Animatrix Last Exile One Piece (bit more cartoony this one in terms of style, still some awesome action and it's hilarious too) Samurai X (or X, might be both tbh) Mushishi (great one for story/characters but it's very slow and not much in terms of pew pew)
All of these are well worth a watch in my opinion.

the "Cyberpunk Collection" is a nice one, thats oedo 808, ad police and... err forgot but well worth a look for 3, 3 part series. Devil man is quite weird, Urotsukidoji is anime ****, Patlabor, appleseed, ninja scroll, dragon half is very funny, detonator orgun and legend of the dragon/4 kings is pretty good multiseries set and obviously ther eis Guyver.
theres plenty of others and most are pretty decent, it sounds a bit strange but if the cover looks good then its usaully a good film lol

For anyone that enjoys Mushishi, I strongly recommend watching Kino's Journey. It has a similar vibe, but is a bit more interesting, in my opinion. Good stuff, in any case.

While all 3 of the movies are awesome I do think the TV show (both seasons) were a bit overrated although some of the episodes were notably excellent.

Hmm, I would agree with Reiisha. The only justifiable claim that Ghost in the Shell isn't awesome is that the second movie was somewhat lacking in plot.

indeed.
personal view of Innocence was:
Quote: animation/gfx: 11 from 10 (zomg wub that cgi) soundtrack: 10 from 10 (pwnage tbqh ) plot: 5 from 10 (it's a meh plot tbh)

First season was abit light in places but awesome once the "Complex" story began to come together. Second season was really good although i think more could have been done with it , the complex story seemed to unfold early and seemed to lose itself in places. I still loved it all the same.

Innocence pwned imo. Plot was patchy, but i think how Batou's character was developed was alot more thorough than the Majors in the first film, which made it more interesting in some ways than the first film.

some of my person favorites are:
outlaw star-a series about an outlaw and his interesting dand of companions who are searching for something called the galactic leyline. all the girls ive met like this show a lot and its not mushy or anything :-) has LOTS of space battle too
gundam wing/mobile suit gundam- if you dont know what those are its about giant (like 200 feet tall) robots that you get inside and they fight against an enemy force earth feseration and principality of zeon, respectivly. they are actaully 2 different shows but i like them.
i also like trigun, but i havnet seen neough to give a good description.
