With the big boost to HP, has anyone stopped to think about how much harder it will make life for suicide gankers in highsec?
I haven't noticed anyone cheer/complain about this yet, which is odd because there is usually a ton of complaining about suicide gankers. Come Kali, there really won't be any excuse to have your indy die to some torp raven or whatever. It'll be even easier for those who like to move billions in paper ships to survive attacks now.
Ofcourse the really dedicated gankers will just get more firepower.

That's about the only good thing I can think of coming from the hp boost.
Other than that it's just going to generally make every aspect of combat in EVE take LONGER... which sucks. TBH

Since they are increasing HPs why aren't they increasing capacitor as well? With more HPs and longer battles, you should have more cap to repair and shoot eh?
Or am I just thinking too logically... ---

Logic? I'm still trying to figure out why they're boosting hp... don't give them any more ideas pls.

Hell, I'm against the whole HP increase, but if you increase one thing, maybe you should increase something else that is required to...err...tank or gank that extra HPs? I mean, battles now are going to be about who runs outta cap the fastest it seems (exaggeration, yeah yeah). ---

Lets just test it and see how it works out in practice. I dont think the fights will be that different. Maybe takes a little while longer to kill someone, but the ship still have the same amount of cap etc... you just have a larger buffer with the larger extenders/plates.
We will all get used to it in a week and then look back at all the rabble smiling.

Don't be too confident without cause about the validity of the move. It strikes me as immediately obvious that the HP boost to plates and extenders will be a defacto nerf to dual MAR/LAR setups and, more important, a defacto nerf to ships with repair and boost bonuses (Cyclone and Brutix and T2 variants).
The 50% carte blanche move just throws so much stuff out of whack. For one thing I torpedoed my vaga in a fight I could have easily escaped, part out of boredom after incessant 3 weeks of ganking, but mostly because solo raiding will be made impossible and will soon be obsolete anyway.
So there goes rewards to anyone with enough foresight and gumption to plan out a lone wolf modus operandi.
Worse though is the hit small raiding gangs will take. If X ships won't be able to take out a target in Y amount of time, where Y represents amount of time typically needed to gank someone before support arrives, then people will just blob up even more, bringing X+(number of extra ships needed) = Y.
Combat doesn't need to be made longer. It's a truly stupid move. Two to three minutes of combat with even odds is a great adrenaline rush and already very exciting. Pointless and only messes up a lot of the game to drag the thing out.

You answered that in your own post a bit above : the devs want longer combats.

well currently you 1-volley t1 indys, you already survive long enough to get off 2 or even 3 volleys if needed. will be easier to tank concord too since the suicider has more hp. wont change anything.
It's great flying Amarr, ain't it? |

Yes, and now it will be lasting two to three minutes, where as before it was not even close. Maybe an uber battleship fitting lasts 2-3 minutes, but I'm pretty sure the average battleship lasts little over a minute, and anything below... most of it's quite short.
But, you have an extremely valid point on the whole nerf to active repairing nerf, I hope CCP does look at this before they release kali.
It's great not being Amarr, ain't it? |

Why are they boosting hp?Heh 5 cruisers can take down ravens in under a minute, with the raven hitting nothing due to the blackbird.
