If you buy a GTC, I'd recommend Shattered Crystal. Great company, bought from them twice before (once for myself, once for a friend), speedy and good service.

Welcome to EvE.
You get to play against (or with) truely evil women like Jenny too
That would require paying attention to something other than the forums for a few minutes a day.

If you are in the USA, and pay $14.95 per month, the most you will pay is $168 There is no "demo" in eve, only trial accounts, everything you see and do is the full game. Although, full accounts have more access to skills / ships than the restrictions placed on trial accounts.
I have been playing EvE for 3 years and have loved every moment of it. I hope you feel the same way
And our Devs love us
Unlike other MMOs devs interact with the players, when i was a new guy i had a dev log into the new player channel and was answering questions and such...you dont get that with any other mmo.

What ya get for the buck.
Ya get a login lag of 1+ hours. PvP fights that are just awesome, ya get like, like, destroyed... and podded, and the fun part is that ya wont even see it happen :D How cool is that?
And also, paying for 1 year, ya will see updates which are there to resolve problems with current situation in EVE, which sometimes even work. And sometimes, they generate more problems.
And yes, the Petition system, that rocks!
Oh, sorry... it doesnt work.
And hmm, what else. We have this forum, it works like charm. Ya tell what ya feel about lag issues, and the posts might mystically disappear. Prolly something to do with the Database or something.
And and... what else... hmm, ya get Jita. A VERY nice place where ya can chat while trying to dock/jump out/in to it.
In what other MMO do you get these benefits. NONE.
CCP = Priceless.

For $240 a year, what can EVE offer me?
I'm playing the demo and it seems like fun but hardly worth $19.95 a month. And as far as I can tell, there's no breakdown in price if I decide to purchase a quarter, half or full year.
So what makes EVE so expensive and why do you players think it is worth the price?
It's not $240 for a year, it's $19.95 to activate a subscription, and yes, there are intervals you can do of 1, 3, 6, and 12 months, where longer intervals are less cost per month.

I run 3 accounts for free. The day they allowed Game Time Code for isk sales, I stopped having to pay for eve. Since then have registered two additional accounts and pay for the game time for all three quite easilly.

I used to buy other computer games. Then I got EVE.
I think it's superior to pretty much any MMO out there. I think it's superior to pretty much all the online games out there. It's definitely superior to watching TV, and I've not actually owned a TV set for quite some time.
EVE is a demanding mistress. Makes you persue quite hard, but ... well it's worth the effort.
In no other game do you have a persistent adversarial environment, where diplomacy and politics are as much strategic factors as what ships you like to fly.
Where you can truly make a name for yourself. And have it actually be of some significance to all the other players.
And in no other game have I experienced quite the same adrenaline rush whilst PvPing.

Ditto. You have real things on the line when you go PvPing. Well they aren't real as in tangible but you put effort into aquiring them so their value is real. I lost a ship worth a billion isk recently (yes, again...) due to a server problem and was incredibly angry. After the petition was answered (successfully), I was overjoyed.
World of Warcraft does not evoke feelings like that. I play it too, though recently less and less.

Quote: I run 3 accounts for free. The day they allowed Game Time Code for isk sales, I stopped having to pay for eve.
Out of curiosity, would you keep all your accounts if CCP removed the isk for time cards and you had to pay for accounts with real money? This goes back to the macrominer problem; they can easily pay for their accounts and even expand to more macros (accounts) as long as they donÆt have to pay for the accounts with real money.
To the OP, what do you get for your monthly payment? Almost the same thing you got for your COH/COV account, except itÆs in space; you donÆt ever see your Avatar and if you try to go too far to fast you will loose everything. If you like Pking in other games you will love EVE if however you prefer true PVP then you might want to look at BF/CS/SS or any other game. With the upcoming Kali patch (yes patch, it will add items that were supposed to be in the gold release 4 years ago) the other paths such as science/manufacturing and exploration is supposed to get some attention.
Play the trial, explore, fight and try not to die too often. You will be paying just about as much as your COH/COV account so only you can say if that account is worth it for you. The average player stays eight (8) months in EVE before taking a break; this is my third time back in 4 years so for me the cost is worth it.
Quote: Think about the people that did fight you fairly. Think.... that were honorable and helped you out in times of need. Those are the real heroes of EVE.

Edited by: Taram Caldar on 30/10/2006 19:11:11 I just want to know why the OP is paying $20 a month... that really perplexes me. Maybe he got CCP mad at him or something. Last time I checked the game only cost $14.95 a month... on the highest monthly billing plan... and you can get it down to $10 a month if you pay a year at a time.
Hell if you spend much time ratting or mission running or mining you will eventually be able to fund your entire game experience buying game time codes for ISK. Personally I don't like that but it is available so, theoretically you can play EVE for nothing if you really put your mind to it.

Perhaps you should have read the whole thread rather then just posting a question that's been asked and answered. The $20 ammount came from the initial $20 Trial activation, apparently it's not clear on the subscription page.
