Yep , from what I was told AXE attacked POS and suddenly 70 odd AAA decided they want to play Eve
which ultimately lagged everything out and cost them the Porche?
Every mass logon lags the total system. We had this also earlier this day in an engagement. We camped station and suddenly AAA logged 30 - 40 guys in. The lag was really bad. 50 - 60 seconds from pressing warp to actually warping away... The login trap lag together with the lag of 50 - 100 fighters and a fleet of 50 - 60 AAA at the pos would have lagged EVERY support fleet to death.
ccp should offer full and prompt reimbursements for results of log-on 'traps.' on large scale i would call them log-on 'exploits' because of the effect it has on the server, especially with the great unfair disadvantage it drops on anyone assaulting a pos...but thats just my own personal opinion.
but yeah ccp should offer reimbursals for those victimized in log-on 'traps.' I mean if they have that many people rdy to defend a pos theres not much need to do a 'trap' as such to defend it, it would seem its just a way to ensure the most enemy losses if not 100% through exploit of the server's capabilities. Its not playing the game, its playing the server.
eh people do it tho... : /
i'd still like to see the video for myself, not only to see what happened exactly, but its also one of the bigger fireworks displays ive heard of, not sure anything can top the RA cap ship pwnage video but who knows.
pls note these are my views on these tactics, not on any said parties involved. i understand many people believe that as long as something is not illegal its fair game. The 'all is fair in love and war' deal, something which leads many to victory.
I myself stand by Sophocles' 'Rather fail with honor than succeed by fraud.' And while log on traps may not technically be fraudulant...theyre certainly not honorable tactics by my standards. but i guess my standards are mine, and only mine.
