Anybody else having this issue?
I log into the launcher and click the yellow button that says "PLAY". The word "LAUNCHING" slides down, but the client never opens.
exefile.exe is shown running and using ~70k memory in the task manager. Each time I click "PLAY" another .exe file comes up.
Other info:
Playing on windows 7. Filed a support ticket, and was told to reinstall the launcher and turn off antivirus; neither worked. The same thing happens with my alt which uses the Steam client.
I'm going through EVE withdrawal. |

Yeah mine has a tendency to just take about 5 minutes to start after hitting launch, but today it's taken about 7 minutes.
That plus the 15 minutes or so the launcher takes to say "ready" if there's been any patch.
That's like... 20 minutes of ship spinning I'm missing out on. |

My client has some delays before showing up a window after using the launcher.
I thought it was because the client and all its resources were running on my NAS over the network.
I tried using logserver but it only registered some 5 min timeframe pause.

Hi guys,
It's possible the delay you are getting is because the launcher is downloading some resources each time. Here are some tips you can try.
Open up the launcher settings window. In the download tab, tick the download all resource files. Then restart the launcher.
If the issue still persists it could be a folder permission issue within the operating system. If that is the case then try right click on the launcher or the icon you use to start the game and select run as administrator from the drop down list. This should repair any folder permission errors.
Should that still not resolve the issue. Then please navigate to your EVE installation folder and run rescache.exe from there. This program will verify the files in your shared resource cache folder and replace any corrupt files. It will also offer to download any missing files for you. If you download these files then hopefully the delay you are experiencing will be gone. |

I was having a similar issue. The launcher would not show any effort towards loading, leaving the status bar and the PLAY button grayed out.
By disabling the proxy server settings, I have resolved the issue. Network and Sharing Center < Internet Options < LAN Settings *Connections tab* < Uncheck the top box under Proxy server area (it reads "Use a Proxy server for you LAN (These settings will not apply to dial-up or VPN connections).)
I hope this helps. I have encountered this issue before and am unsure what program or setting keeps "re-checking" this option. |

Ever since this last update I have been unable to play eve. I log in, click play and watch the client disappear, I dumped my cache, reinstalled eve client from scratch, tried to log in again and still no luck. I log in, client disappears no hand shake with the character selection screen. Just disappears. My other client, stayed, so I figured it was retrieving updates despite the yellow progress bar being at the finish point. So I left it while I did other things. 2 hrs later. nada.... Client still there. no hand shake with the selection screen. I filed a petition with CCP. hope this gets fixed soon..... |

Thanks for your help so far. Tried that too :)
Just to pre-empt the obvious questionsGǪ
I use a 4G router but I have access to an adsl line the latter being logistically inconvenient.
I had a perfect experience with the launcher and updates up to the download-on-demand patch using the 4G router. Low ping - high speeds - gameplay perfect. Speedtest
The DOD patch resulted in the previously mentioned (and Support Ticketed) greyed out play button and with an unmoving download bar. I did all the repairs, new launchers, new repairers, total download of new client from the offline cab bins link all to no avail.
Now hereGÇÖs the weird bit.
If I plug in the adsl line into the PC the launcher download bar fills yellow and I get a yellow play bar.
Great!! Now if I return to the 4G connection and restart the launcherGǪ. Greyed out PLAY and empty download bar .
I CAN play the now patched client through the 4G router but only if I use the .exe file in the bin folder. Of course every time you guys patch the patch for the patch etc. I have to revert to the adsl line to get any game connection at all even if I try to use the .exe file (obviously incompatible build).
All other Internet services are normal through the 4g, pidgin TS browser.
Something has changed and I am pretty sure its your new launcher thatGÇÖs caused this.
Please fix thanks.

Cleared cache, Run launcher as Admin, went to folder ran the rescahe.exe. Game just gets the Not Responding when client launches.
Running the exefile.exe ( Running as Administrator) does the same thing the launcher does. It starts to launch the game but doesn't. Look in Task Manager and it says Eve --> Not Responding.
Was working fine until patch today.

Currently stuck on file 40 of 7871 missing files, running the rescache tool, since I cannot play the game. I played or was logged in the majoirty of the day today, logged off for a bit, and can no longer connect. This has been happening every evening since this new launcher started, I often have to launch and relaunch a dozen or more times each day just to connect. Sometimes switching the language works, sometimes not, it is frustrating.

I experience this "bug" (I wouldnt really call it that) from time to time (like every 3rd day) - and I take the "windows-approach" to fix it. Close launcher , wait 5 seconds , restart launcher - success-rate of doing that is 100% for me - except the TQ-Server is down like on patch-days |

I've tried all these things:
I uninstalled Eve and downloaded and reinstalled it.
I uninstalled my virus software, after the issues that have already been talked about in the thread.
I uninstalled Eve and reinstalled it for the second time.
I rebooted and then repaired, all when fine but the issue remains the client doesn't start after login.
I downloaded all the resources as suggested, and then ran the resource cache app: all files verified, 0 corrupt and 0 not yet downloaded.

Exact same issue for me. Last night it worked fine. This morning, I authenticate and the launcher changes to "launching" for 6-8 seconds and then nothing. The "play" button cycles back and appears again.
recache.exe was the solution that worked for me - it took a while, but 123 files totalling about 72mb were missing and needed to be redowloaded. The launcher didnt identify these missing files. |

Ok, I am on intermittently. Here is how I have been successfully logging on: I pull up the launcher and then let it sit and ****ABSOLUTELY DO NOT TOUCH ANYTHING WHAT SO EVER AT ALL****. The do not touch anything at all bit is extremely important. If some other program gets touched or there is seemingly any activity, then it's a greyed out play button. I have to wait about 10 minutes or so, then I type the password and log in, then it comes up correctly. Something is going on behind the scenes. What is happening in those 10 minutes? I don't get any sort of a status bar or error message. |

Now I'm frustrated, have submitted a ticket and suspended my account.

After several years away from EVE, I succumbed to a "$29.95 for 90 Days" offer last week. I thought I would have a look at the current state of the game.
I have had the same issue as most others in this thread...click "PLAY" on Launcher, it changes to "LAUNCHING", DirectXRedist.exe launches a command window, 10-20 seconds later "LAUNCHING" changes back to "PLAY".
As Lahxman did, I have tried all of this (and more):
Lahxman wrote: I tried the following: `clearing the cache; `running as administrator; `opening the launcher, closing it and then running again; `rescache; `repair tool; `exe file; `setting admin privileges; `disabling anti-virus; `disabling user account permissions; `uninstalling, defragging, running disk utilities; `installed 4 times (online and offline).
Primary gaming computer is Windows 7. I also installed on another Windows 7 desktop...same result. Installed on a Windows 8.1 laptop...same result.
This made me suspicious of my network or perhaps my ISP. I turned on the WiFi hotspot function of a 4G phone and connected the laptop via that...same result.
Something very fundamental must be wrong. I would not have even believed I could reproduce the problem on such differing machines and networks. Welcome back to EVE!
Turned in a ticket Friday and, not surprisingly, have not had a response as of yet. |

been 7 days for me, same issue. Tickets lodged, emails sent and posting in a few threads. Tried everything aside from a windows re-install. Pretty unhappy about this situation. |

I am getting an exception message which contains a lot of stuff I don't know what it is. So, I did a repair, cleared cache to no avail and on this little window it says "Start EVE", so in order for me to log in it takes me to an older login screen. |

I'm having a similar issue. The launcher would not show any effort towards loading, leaving the status bar and the PLAY button grayed out. I have to wait several minutes for things to go back to normal (the progress bar fills up in yellow and the PLAY button gets enabled) and then I can enter the game.
This started happening after the Mosaic update.
Rescache found some missing files and downloaded them but the problem persists.
Do we ALL have to log tickets of given the widespread of the issue can we expect an answer from CCP in this forum thread that actually helps? |

+1 - Exactly the same problem here, launcher allows me to login, but the status bar and launch button are greyed out. Ive cleared cache; run repair, tried direct exe file etc. All result in the same.

+1 grey status bar at the bottom and can't hit play, if i close and open the launcher a few times i might get lucky, workaround - using the exefile directly - annoying

As far as I can tell for me the launcher is trashed and completely broken on my computer, doesn't matter how many times to reinstall it still does not work. Part of the problem is with the resources cache and downloading in the background during play. I do seriously believe that a roll back to before they added the resources cache and downloading in the back ground will solve this issue. |

It is particularly encouraging to see there has been no CCP response to this thread for over two weeks now...
The one common factor I find no matter what I try is that, according to LogServer.exe output, the launch fails after successful execution of DirectXRedist.exe. The next line in the ouput is "Invalid Trinity platform dx11". If I force the game to launch as DirectX 9, same result, just says "dx9" instead of "dx11".
After that is is all stacktrace info and shutdown cleanup. The final possible bit of information is this line:
bluepy.Terminate - Reason: Failed to import trinity DLL (ImportError('No module named _trinity_stub_deploy',))
Of course, I have no idea what that means, perhaps someone who does will see it. |

Seems like a few guys got it to work without restarting the launcher (a few times) by switching the language:

Really encouraged by the lack of responses from CCP on this issue. I guess to them it's not an issue there my only other option is to uninstall the client and close my account when it expires end of July 2015. Nice work CCP, shows you how much you all care about your game.

I used the launchers settings icon (Cog wheel), then went to 'advanced' then hit 'clear' for 'only cached usernames', then the client loading bar (Normally greyed out) activates, launcher then runs installs etc. then loading bar changes to orange and confirms client ready, then I insert username & password to be able to play.
But I have to do this after every logging out and upon each attempt to use launcher again. |

For me changing the language back and forth does the trick, did you try that ?

I never received a reply from CCP, but another player, Shrp Shooter, who was having the same problem, did. He forwarded the info to me and I thought I would pass it along, in case it can help others with the issue save time.
Quote:"Hello, I am GM Akilian. Thank you for contacting customer support. We apologize for the delay in responding to your ticket. We are seeing an increased load of incoming tickets and as such our response time has suffered. We appreciate your patience and understanding while we work on getting our queues back in order. It's possible the game has been unable to extract some directx files it needs. Please try manually extracting them. Here are the steps: 1. Download and install UniExtract from this page: http://legroom.net/software/uniextract
2. Use UniExtract on DirectXRedist in your client's "bin" folder. This should extract five files. Put those files in your bin directory where DirectXRedist is located. 3. Try running the game again. Should the issue still persist then please contact us again. With regards, GM Akilian CCP Customer Support | EVE Online | DUST 514"
In my case, this did indeed work to fix the problem listed in Post #50, above. Many Thanks, Shrp Shooter! |
