No idea, to be honest. I wouldn't mind tackling them, but (a) there's several other factions I want to flesh out first, including some of the NPC pirate ones, and (b) these two are still in their infancy, so to speak, and I'm not sure I want to nail down a direction for them right away. We'll see. If I get an idea that's perfectly suited for them, none of the above will matter; I'll sit down and write it.

I'm glad it had that kind of effect. While I can't say that the story was explicitly designed to make you sympathize with the drone, I can tell you that it's an allegory, and that the drone isn't just a drone. If you feel sorry for it, well, it may mean you're more human than the rest of us.

Wow. You've done it again, Abraxas. I know I'm in the lions' den here -- admitting so something like this -- but I really don't like much sci-fi writing. Really. It's a genre predominantly chockfull of campy, shallow, stereotyped, predictable crappity crap. You probably recognize that more than most.
But you're making me a believer.

Ehhhhh didn't do much for me. I think you coulda chopped the story in half and it would've been a lot tighter.
Also, I didn't pick up that the Drone was screwed in the head. You sorta had a half narratization thing going on too and it just didn't come off right.

Seriously, I'm in love with your stories
Like most, I'd read the old Chronicles and been a little bored- they had no character, no message, no drive- they read like encyclopedia articles. Which is nice, but not exactly riveting.
Your stories are, like, proper stories 
I read a guy in your previous thread say "I could do better". While I cannot say whether he could or not, I only know one thing: I couldn't

*edit* I would just like to say, even though it's so very short I felt sorry for that little drone, lost and alone trying to repair itself, clearly something rather traumatic happened to it, I really do feel sorry for it. I would give it a home (in my house, not my body)

Left to it's own devices, it just keeps repeating the same destructive and useless process that does little more than spread the misery and death. That goes for any genre, though: There's a few diamonds and a whole lot of coal, and not necessarily any direct correlation between quality and sales. While I've read a bunch of SF, I'm far more of a horror fan (as some people on this thread may have noticed) and I've seen the same trend in that genre. The good stuff does exist, but as it's always buried under landslides of dreck, you've got to be prepared to do some digging for it (or ask someone whose taste corresponds to yours).

I agree, having read and enjoyed the story as well as my feeble mind is able to I would like to have it explained by the creationary force behind it, to explain the subtle flavours and nuances that I missed in my readings.
Also, do a horror about Fedo! they can be scary (or at least one that MENTIONS the lovely little things, they are so forgotten ;.; )

I had some little Jin Mei ideas Nothing at all like a full story but I'll email it off to that addy when I can for people with writing talent to maybe get some ideas and inspiration from I'd just like to see us poor Jin Mei have something there and not just be ignored or seen as noodle-making clones...
