1) We already have the technology to make robots that can do almost anything. But, other than the ability to travel at warp the ships in EVE are very low-tech compared to modern military vehicles. Try fitting the systems of an Apache Longbow onto any ship in EVE 
2) If EVE were real then the vast majority of people here wouldn't be pilots because either they are not fit enough or not intelligent enough, plus it's DANGEROUS!

Mining Is Automated, your mining lasers dont stop at the end of the cycle  . You want a automated Jet Mining System. Here Comes CCP Excuse, "When you place items into a Jettison Can, you no longer own that item until it is claimed by you or someone else."

It already does repeat the simples tasks, the lasers buzz uninterupted, the drones cycle back and forth, the human element of supervision what to do with the ore, shifting it around, that's the function you're left with and there should always be a supervising element in any activity or else we might just say we play EVE and go home.
