hi guys, im rather new to EVe, and after playing and beating dark star one, i craved more. although this game is not as arcadet its got quite the flare.
ive added the advancedDevice=1 to my prefs.ini, and ive been wondering what all these options in eve do. while i am familiar with how they work, im not sure how the work in EVE.
LOD for one, what does it do? i suppose LOD will add LOD to the game, and having it off wil be max detail at all times?
is the 24 bit colour better or is the 24 bit colour with 8 bit alpha better? and what does it change?
32bit zbuffer or 32 bit z buffer witht he stencil, and again, what does that do?
and lastly, for AA. i suppose 1 2 and 3 equal 2 4 and 6x?.
thankks, WoL

Isn't LOD Load On Demand? Does this just load models to be rendered as they get within a set distance from you, rather than loading every model in the system as you jump into it.?
8bit alpha refers to the transparncy channel I think. Knowledge is knowing a tomato is a fruit; Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad.

LoD is Level of Detail. With properly implemented LoD, the further away an object is, the less of it is rendered, leaving out the invisible polygons.

24-bit = 24-bit color
24-bit with 8-bit alpha = 32-bit color

Semi-true. It's still 24 bit colors (16.8m) but there's 256 levels of transparancy availible which mainly helps in those cloud effects. It is however 32 bits used for complete color information. :)
The AA levels seems to be the same as 2x 4x and 8x yes.
