Quote: Just make industrial hardpoint for all ships. Like Turret/Launcher hardpoint. Mining laser only fit to industrial hardpoint. not to turret hardpoint.
This idea won't solove those issue?
Battleships should live or die in battle
Also Industrial hardpoints can be used for following module. -Tractor beam(forgot whose idea, from Startrek) -Deep core mining tool(if it's a module) -Construction Module(for First player constructions in space, check development page)
Sorry for paste em to here. I don't wanna bump em at general forum.

I like this solution... And don't give the Industrial ships an industrial hardpoint ;) that'll stop people from afk mining in indi's for good...

No I do mining in a indy in system 0,6-0,8, not afk, just use a smartbomb for defences.
Go ide, but Industrial ships shoudt hav a industrial hardpoint
Now I become death, the destroyer of worlds |

afk-play is bad mmkay? fix it.
At the moment you can put a micro smartbomb on an indi and a mining laser and you can mine 0.7+ all night you don't even have to look, just put the bomb on auto... But why bother doing that and fear you may hit someone with that bomb and concord comes after you.. you can just sit in 1.0 without a smartbomb and not fear anything at all... Just put your indi to work when you goto bed and tada next morning you're half a mil richer... cheap. cheat. crap.

It makes sense to me, too.
I'd like to see more specialization of the space ships in the game, and this would contribute to that angle.

Yes, I was thinking the exact same thing.
Add these to the list - Energy Transfer - Shield Transfer - Repair module (to repair other ships)
I also agree that the haulers shouldn't have any hardpoints, instead I'd like to see another type of industrial ship, a breed of utility craft. These would have many industrial hardpoints but few or no weapons and too little cargospace to make afk-mining worthwhile.

And what equivalent ships will you offer professional miners?
You all need minerals, like it or not. Some people hate mining, others use it as an income, and some abuse it like they abuse other elements of the game.
Those afk mining are probably the ones you all hate, the fact that they are in a battleship is something just showing they specialised to make the job faster.
However, there are perfectly legit miners using battleships. Why shouldn't they? Ship progression isn't just one area for combat only, though where do you think most of the minerals we mine go?
You want to fix the disparity between mining income and other professions, first you have to fix the other professions. Bounty hunting, scientists, builders.
Bounty hunting, well we all know the faults in that. Scientists and builders can't sub-contract their abilities. It would require they are given blueprints which could be hugely valuable, which they can just as easily steal. There is nothing there to prevent that type of abuse, no contracts, no escrow like there is in courier missions.
Why do people live with the boredom of mining? Its not exactly fast money, but it IS a steady income for the time spent doing it.

I still have yet to see an explanation of WHY leaving your ship out all night and coming back half a million isk richer, is cheap. All I ever see is people shouting "It's cheap. It's an exploit. It shouldn't be allowed." They never tell me why not.

oh I don't know, Baldour Ngarr, common sense maybe? AFK-mining is a flaw. Ask any dev. They will agree.
