instead of the normal jump clone cooldown we have today i would like to propose a system much like the fatigue system wich would allow u to for example jump from you nullsec base to highsec by some stuff on jita, setup a courier contract and then jump back to your base. this would take over 24 hours with much wasted with todays system or require a market alt/friend in highsec. with this system i propose you would be able to have a more smooth game experience without a buch of homemade tricks. now let's talk numbers.
the current system have a default cooldown of 24 hours and then u can train it down to 19 hours.
let's say my system would have a 24 hour fatigue after the first jump and within which u can jump again however this will trigger the lockout timer which will lock u from jumping. I'd be fine with having 72 hours lockout if i would be able to jump twice in the same day before. what becomes of the skills i'd suggest one for reducing the fatigue timer and one for reducing the lockout timer as simular skills already exist for the current system.
these changes would make the jump clones more valuable/effective while actualy reducing the frequency within which you can jump.
theese are all just my personal thought i came up with spontaniously the other day, however i believe this would be a change for the better on the jump clone system with some refinement. all feedback and other good sorta ideas to make this suggestion aswel as the game better are strongly urged as it will benefit us all. :)

You have 3 character slots on your account. Take one of those slots and make an alt. Park that alt in Jita and use it to do your shopping.
EvE is hard. It's harder if you're stupid.
I couldn't have said it better.

I had an idea like this and it immediately got 3 "-1" posts, so idk... the current fatigue mechanic with ships seem to be hated enough to mention...
I still think changing the clone system in some way to encourage a larger amount of industry players to take on pvp would have a positive impact to the game overall. However any drastic change to something that isn't deemed entirely and irreparably broken will probably be shot down.

I would think it more interesting if clones could act similarly to how they act in Brin's "Kiln People" where you essentially can operate multiple versions of yourself at once.
Though I suppose that would be stepping on The Broker's signature territory. |

yes i know, but it isen't rly a nice and smooth gameplay having to send isk back and fourth between alts with relogs and shiet. to me it just feels like a annoying process that could have been alot smother. |

yeah idd people who have like expensive implants when they do some industry or something that can swap clone for pvp without fear of losing their expensive implants can be nice. however if this would be deemed to be broken/overpowered you could make or something like u only get the fatigue timer when u undock after jumping. my idea is very rough and there are many ways to improve it and shape it into perfection. |

well playing multiple clones/characters would be pretty wild and tbh it would change the game alot imo. however my idea was just a little fix to make a little part of the game that however is very essensial for so many people a bit smoother. ^^ |

woulden't you lose your clone in null when you selfdestruct or can u set up multiple clones at the same station/outpost? (never tryed since i've never found a reason to make multiple clones at the same place.) |

For information:
Samillian wrote:[quote=CCP Rise]It's not only an issue of travel. The 24 hour timer doesn't fit because it seems to say that you should be able to jump once a day, but in practice it's often more like every other day. Just because we want it to actually be once a day does not mean we want substantially more freedom in clone jumping overall.
I agree that most people will be using it to move clones for an activity, not for travel, but we don't want that to not come with cost. It is not the goal that everyone will be able to be in the ideal implant set for any activity at any time. We are happy with the cost (risk/time loss/travel) and decision making associated with clone jumping and don't want to eliminate that with this change.

I haven't heard anything to indicate CCP has changed their mind about this.
While your proposal is interesting I'm not happy with how it would seem to circumvent much of the good work recently done on reducing power projection.

Easier this way, In my post below when I refer to PvP I am using the traditional definition of 2 or more players trying to blow each other up. Just want to get this little clarification out of the way now.
Changing the clone system will not encourage industry players to PvP. Players will PvP because they like to in which case the clone they are in is rarely a factor in the decision. Or they do not like to PvP in which case there is nothing you can do to clones or any other part of the game that will "encourage" them to partake in PvP activities.
Still wondering how long it will take for intelligent people like you to realize this simple fact? |
