I am surprised nobody linked this yet, so I will do it...
On the left side of your screen, press the following: Patch Notes - The Drawingboard and you will get to see this little piece of information that the OP whines about wanting
Quote: Skill Training - Queue or Dual training
Enabling players to either queue so that training takes the next skill level or starts training another skill up another level. Dual training enables you to have a primary long-term skill in training with a secondary short-term skill sharing the training time. After the secondary skill level has trained, the primary skill trains at 100% again.
So, this feature is on its way, until then just calm down and let unscheduled downtimes take place, as they always have. There is nothing you can do about them, nothing CCP can do about (most of) them and whining here that we can't set skill queues (yet), will not make a difference...

Originally by: coldplasma Edited by: coldplasma on 02/11/2006 18:02:10 You were told to set long training time 1 week in advance of downtime. It's not like CCP shut down the server one day without any prior notification, long skill training doesn't mean 24 hours or 2 days, it means set a skill training in anticipation that downtime will be much longer than foreseen.
downtime was actually shorter...but the servers crashed earlyer in the day... I had 3 accounts with no skill training.

I would be much happier if instead of a que it was a 24 hr emergency skill that would train a skill for 24hrs in the event you weren't logged on. When you log on you have to switch it to manual training so the skill can finish

I personally would love to see a skill queue implemented. I can't count how many times I set a skill training and forgot about it or haven't been able to get on to EVE or to my computer at the time I needed to change skills. Altering your life or having to logon just to switch skills can be frustrating waste of time.
Please add a skill queue in Kali 2.

Actually, i'd prefer it if the queue were limited to only one skill. Assuming for some reason we absolutely must have a queue.
As for that dual training thing, looks interesting. It'll be nice if you can set the training percentages between 50/50 to 10/90 PrimarySkill/SecondarySkill. =D

There are some that are worried about the newbifaction of Eve what with the 'testing' of WT0 and the highskill pointed new chars.
I try to remain optimistic, however adding a skill 'queue' just because people can't be bothered enough to keep check on their Chars (Evemon, great prog - does wonders).
One other thing, regarding 'unscheduled downtimes' - boohoo. You lost x hours of training time, I'm sure your life as you know it is over. Unscheduled downtimes after big hardware upgrades/patchs? People with half a braincell know to set long skills skills for the very reason that stuff generally goes wrong after those events.
Failure to do so either means you a) lack forsight or b) decided to take that risk.
Either way don't come on here whining how you want your life made simpiler/easier.

Wouldn't hurt the game if they set it up like:
Your training an 8x skill (BS 4) it finishes, the next skill comes up would have to be a 4x ( Torpedoes lvl 4) or less and could only be trained to the same lvl as the above, that way you couldn't like start BS 5 and drone interfacing 5 and not have to log on to switch things around.

Originally by: Sinful Pleasure If skill queues are allowed, you will quickly see an increase in game farmers.
Character farmers may very well get some use out of a skill queue, but they will farm characters with or without a skill queue. The majority of players will also get a benefit from skill queues, however, and that should outweigh the negligible benefit a queue would give to char farmers. Indeed, a skill queue may reduce demand for character farmers as efficient training can be done by those of us who have a life and/or commitments outside of Eve, reducing the need to resort to character farmers.

Character farmers could pay one monthly fee, set a queue, and then once its done they could sell the character for what its worth at a cost of only $15 to themselves. Wihtout a queue they are forced to pay for every month to get the character trained...so...I mean, seems like character farmers would benefit much from a skill queue.

Its probably been said in this thread but I got bored reading them all so i will say it again ( or for the 1st time depending on wiehter its been said etc etc)
Skills Ques are a bad idea because some silly people will get an Eve account setup the training for the next 9 months, setup another account setup training for the next 9 months, setup another account ( ou get the idea ). Then Ebay will be swamped with fully trained characters made to measure with very little input.
Training your Toon is as much a part of playing Eve as flying your fav BS into combat. You have to take time in planning which, where and how you want to do thinks - so allowing people to just setup 6 months training hardly seems fair or Eve like
Anyways thats my pennies worth
P.S. Hi Serp - good to see you matey - fly safe

Eric, CCP are only talking about implementing dual training (ie. queuing 2 skills), not about allowing you to plan a years worth of training (unless that training happens to be Outpost Construction 5 and Titan 5 together...)
