39 corps seems a lot to kick out in one go.
39 corps & 400 members tells everything.
Correct, 39 corps sounds like a lot but only about 10 members per corp makes this a little less impressive. This was the first phase of the culling, where we got rid of the inactive corps that could not manage a simple task like replying to a thread on the ISS forums. Those corps tended to be small.
There's more restructuring on the way. This was just the first phase. Hopefully by the end of it, the alliance will be free of most of the rifraf and we can work on our relationships with our neighbouring alliances.

You used my word...and I /sign the above statements.
Hehe.
So far we've accepted a few of the booted corps back in because they were new corps that could not have met the requirements to not be booted (new corps look like inactive corps). We also recruited one under the new recruitment rules. They're only in the test stage at the moment but they're very strict compared to the old "pay some isk and get in the ISS" recruitment policy. The new recruitment policy is designed to ensure every corp that joins the ISS contributes well to the goals of the alliance. We'll release them once they're done and dusted and recruitment is opened again, but that will be after more pilots are removed.
Estimates are that the total removed when we're done will be about 1000, but it could be lower. We'll just have to see how it turns out.

Look forward to hearing about your additional restructuring soon.
Well first up we have to get everyone in the alliance to wear black hats with a red bobbly bit at the top so they can look like you :D.

Correct, and wars do us a good turn in a lot of ways.
Firstly, they give us a chance to get some PvP practice in without the politics of 0.0. We're constantly being war-declared on so all we have to do is go hunting around jita if we're in the mood for some practice. I'm sure all the corps that declare war on us are in it for similar reasons.
Secondly, wars weed out corps and pilots that haven't got what it takes to be in the ISS - corps that haul AFK in empire during a war and don't read the charter, alliance mail or the ISS forums. Anyone who gets killed in a war in the ISS that isn't out looking for some pvp training is doing something wrong and it's their own fault.
