Ok.. so i just got my 1st PI character setup.... Currently right now i got him running 4 planets to extract material from.. My 5th planet will be available to me tomorrow which i will setup this factory planet for my main production. I generally wanted to make 1 P2 product but unfortunately the planets didn't work well for that so i have 2 planets pulling materials for 1 p2 product and the other 2 planets pulling for the other p2 product...
I want to take these 4 materials and bring them to the 5th planet.
Skill levels are 4 across the board. My goal is to basically get as much as i can out of this. Can someone inform me how this could be setup optimally. like amount of spaceports, supply depots, processors???
I was hoping to get maybe 18-20 processors going.

You need 1 advanced factory for every two basic factories assuming 100% utilization. So if you have 20 basic factories making P1 item 'A' and 20 basic factories making P1 item 'B' then you'll need 20 advanced factories to keep utilization at 100%. If you had 20 making 'A' and 50 making 'B' you would still only need 20 advanced because you'll be limited by the amount of 'A' being made. |

With level 4 skills you can run what I call a "Y" setup.
[P2] [P2] [P2] [P2] [P2] [P2] [P2] [P2] [P2] [P2] [P2] [P2] [P2] [P2] [P2] [P2] [LP] [LP] [CC] [P3] [P3] [P3] [P3]
Run 8 P2 production facilities of the same type off of each launchpad, route the outputs to your command center, have it feed the P3s and then split the final output equally between the two launch pads. Your command center doesn't have enough capacity to be useful as anything other than a buffer so make sure to keep the inputs balanced.

20 tier 2 processors 2 Launchpad's 1 storage
Build a honeycomb with processors, put launchpads and storage on the edge next to each other. You don't have to link every processors straight to LP, link as little as possible. one launchpad send 2 basic materials in, move to storage, fill LP again. Route the product to the other LP for export.
It doesn't matter where your command center is. Keep it out of the way. |

[P2-1] [P2-1] ----- [P2-2] [P2-2] [P2-1] [P2-1] ----- [P2-2] [P2-2]
[CC] [LP-1] [LP-2] [LP-3]
[P2-1] [P2-1] ----- [P2-2] [P2-2] [P2-1] [P2-1] ----- [P2-2] [P2-2]
LP-1 and LP-2 holds 12960 units of each P1 product, route these to the Processors directly above and below. Route the final poduct to LP-3.
The cycle last for two days before LP-1 and LP-2 need filling and LP-3 will hold 4 days of production.
At Command Centre Upgrade Lv5 there is enough spare powergrid 4 P3 Processors and 1 P4. So with this setup you can take P1's* through to P-4's if you so wished. For this you would ofc need more planets.

You need 2 raw processor for each P2 processor to run, so if you want to create a continuous material flow, figure out how many raw processors you have for each p2 item you want to make, divide by 2 and that's how many P2 processors you can build. Assumption here is that you are looking at 24/7 production. Otherwise you can just build as much as your skills and size of planet allows and then run the processors whenever you have material to fill.
What I'm trying to say here is that raw processors are the main factor in deciding how many p2 processors you should build. |
