There isnt anything added to the comics anyone could call 'humor'. In fact, being a PA follower for a while now and knowing all the comics you posted; most cases you have actually taken the amusing part out. Now, trying to look at it from a neutral point of view (somewhat difficult ofc), what BoB did with their sigs, was take an established theme AND context: Star Wars; and put an Eve+ASCN slant to it. These new ASCN comics are using the PA characters (not a theme) and replaced the text (a large portion of the context) with something unrelated. What you have ended up with is two people talking to each other about an event. Nothing more. The single exception to this is here: ASCN Fighter Swarm As it turns out, this one also isnt flamebait! I think the author, while he is on the right track, was trying too hard to insult BoB and forgot to take that step back and keep the humor contained in the original scene. Anyway, I do hope there will be more comics to come from this war, because lets face it: There is plenty of material coming from both sides. Edit: Added as a link. Sig will be back after the can of worms has been closed.

In short nice piece of PR but not as class as the movie/the audiofiles/the sigs and the blogs.

First of all, this is the first time I've heard this definition of "roast." It might have something to do with me using English as a second language. Also from consulting a dictionary, only thing that came up besides cooking was: Quote: roast (CRITICISE) verb {T} INFORMAL to severely criticize or speak angrily to someone roasting noun {C usually singular} INFORMAL - I got a roasting from Mum for being back late. so where your definition came from I dont know, and I find it was a poor attempt at humour aswell. Just about every large wedding I've been to involved a roast of the groom by his best man, and they're also popular at association meetings. I'll admit I've been so steeped in that meaning of the term I was surprised when non-english speakers didn't know that, but that's my own provincial fault. The only comment I'd make would be to explain the one about 'you ever think we might be BoB spys?' Many of the ASCN folks find that to be the funniest, but it only really works well if you were one of the 50 or so of us on TS the night we had the disruption. The quotes in the last panel are just that... quotes. They're not any kind of artistic license. That's what makes it so funny.

Alliance politics do not concern me so I'm as neutral as one can be. I would say that one who finds these extremely funny would be the one who has a crappy sense of humour. The OP has taken great strides to propagate respect from ASCN to BoB, take it for what it is and enjoy it and if you see fit please counter with roastsof your own (as true roasts often go both ways). This thread is a moment where we step off the frontlines and congratulate eachother through satire, encapsulating eachothers accomplishments/shortcomings and hopefully enjoying a few fee laughs. The OP is not seeking "constructive" criticism on the comics herein. Enjoy them for what they are, build on them and share some laughs. For neutrals, some comics may lose you in their humour, but don't be offended its simply because you weren't there on the front when it all came together. Perhaps the thread would not be subject to misinterpretation if we had it named ASCN/BoB Roast. Bob made some forum sigs having some fun with the situation, so ASCN counters with lotr sigs but most the humor in them is based on bull that sounds right out of a Madeye blog. Same goes for most of these cartoons...like the fighter swarm . . .talkin about the birth of the fighter swarm and all .. ..well. .. i dunno... i think a comic on the ultra swift death of 110 fighters would carry more humor than the fact that ascn was capable to put these together,and the first cartoon based on taking fountain makes almost no sense if youre trying to extract humor from it . Its like these jokes are laid out for m0r0ns who couldn't understand any humor with depth .. . me thinks someone behind these sigs and cartoons and stuff should train "witty joking " to lev 2 at least. I,m disappointed after reading this thread . . .does the average ascn believe this stuff or think its funny when you know the reality ? . . . . how to speak ascn ? youre demoted centurion

The speech patter is PA-esque enough to make them feel decently in character, which helps the delivery. These, and the BoB Star Wars .sigs are quality forum propaganda. Makes you feel more positively about the creator and is enjoyable to read. Definitely a large step up from a lot of the trash that crosses these forums that tries to achieve the same goals via chest-beating and intimidation.
