Originally by: Ionstream because of the way canon warp mechanics work ingame, what your suggesting shouldn't work. warp in eve works by amplifying waves from planets and stars. that's why you can warp to stations, as it's a minor course correction off of a planet it's anchored around. what you're suggesting would mean the ship was travelling in a direction with no planetary body in mind which isn't really possible if you want to keep the game in theme with it's own written physics.
So explain how you can warp to a bookmark then? Or a gang member? Or a deadspace gate? Or how the existing emergency warp (jump lag) or logoff warps work?

I must admit that I didnÆt know of the ôstoryö behind the warp technology in EvE Universe...but even if that is true, a short ôemergencyö warp (1m Km like the OP suggested) should be possible using the ship energy reserves...with or without unforeseen consequences

Sound good but it will be open to alot of abuse. but a good idea none the less. this i how i would present a like idea:
Warp Burst (Emergency warp out), The Ships nav computers are disengaged and a blind warp is undertaken. This is dangerous as the ship can warp into any objects in the random warp path because it has not zoned to any celestial object. The Overpowered burst to escape the warp probes effect can damage the ship and the warp drive components.
In game effects of this. The ship is warped in a random direction for a random distance between 400km and 1AU knocking the warpdrives out of action for 5-10 mins. The innital warp burst causes a +500% sig radius so that people can achive a faster lock when this is attempted, So if you try to avoid the warp bubble theres a better chance for a regular tackler on you. Also because it a blind jump there is every chance you could be warped in to something that might destroy you.
Personally, i think this would be a very powerfull game mechanic and there for would need a high risk associated with it. you may even land on the same grid and have the chance of an enemy interceptor still getting a point.
Further to the idea, ceartain ships could be better at doing this than others allthough i havent thought fully about how that might work yet.

you are completely missing the point. This is not open to abuse because people ALREADY do it by logging on and off. All this does is give an in-game way to do it that removes the need to log off and on repeatedly, something nobody likes.
