So the background band of stars actually is generated wrt to the world map. That's seriously cool and thanks for that. For those that don't know it means that when you fly to an edge of the map (like Assiad) you can see a gap in the faint band of stars across the 'sky'.
What would be really cool though would be to have some way to highlight a system. It would help you orient yourself in space. You could also look toward that point if you want to look toward 'home' or 'the enemy' :) -- (Battle hardened industrialist)

That would be seriously nifty.

Maybe something similar to how pressing alt highlights everything around you. Perhaps pressing alt while on the map you get to see info depending on your map settings (region lines, systems, sec status etc..). ----------------------------------------------- http://www.uozone.net/files/cic/val4_eve.jpg Signature filesize exceeds max limit of 24000 bytes. How about a way to disable the 'pan out' feature so I don't waste 40 seconds every time I need to go from in-flight to galaxy map? Also... some way to disable the stars in the background while I'm flying...

I haven't tried it but there is an option under the animation tab for "instant change" or somesuch.
As for my original idea we could expand it to allow people to highlight constellations. There are enough stars that you could draw pictures by dimming all but the relevant stars. This would have to be on a system by system basis of course. You could use it for artwork (isk sink) or competitions.

With the seamless map, I think the stars in the background can be removed. after all, we have the real star data available when flying around now, so why not use it to generate stars. --
