2003.11.08 04:18:53 combat Your Neutron Blaster Cannon I perfectly strikes XXXX, wrecking for 930.4 damage.
I've been testing this gun, and it does around 300-450 dmg every shot, 1 out of ten does below 100... ROF is around 5 secs, Range around 2km.
They start doing around 300dmg in 6km.
Who said Hybrids suck ?

It sucks that you have to do it at 6km, when a good tachyon could be blasting you at 50km.

Its not so much that hybrids suck, its that over time they do the least damage of all the large weapon types. They're also hampered by having a much larger size for rounds than projectile weapons. Add to that the fact that hybrids only do thermal and kinetic damage, whereas projectiles can to any type, and they're a bit out of balance with the other large weapons. This is in distinct contrast to the awesome greatness of Medium hybrids.
Its not that large hybrids aren't useless, its that they're less useful.

Not only that... they eat cap and miss a lot of shots with good skills. Who cares about RoF when you blow your cap if you can't track your enemies and they are tagging your shields while your guns are pounding your cap into rubbish.
Until Hybrids are fixed... Projectiles are the way to go. Even if it misses a shot... and the RoF is like a missile launcher, you shoot at 20 - 80km ( depending on guns ) and your cap will probably never die.

Ironic really, considering that the whole point of a hybrid round is that its uber.
Oh well, I'm sure CCP will get around to fixing it soon.
Until, I shall stick with my projectiles.

bah, having 4 tachs firing instead of 4 neutrons eats far more cap and uses and incredible more amount of grid than neutrons. neutrons only use 25 power per shot and on a battleship thats means nothing.
everybody is nay saying hybrids because they don't hit as hard and sitll use a good amount of cap but nobody looks at the damange it does. Thermal and Kenetic, good against both shield and armor. anybody thought of that before?

I'ts not the close range hybrids that suck.. those are good. It's the long range :P

Nice damage, yet one has to think... when you and i fight each other, do you really think you get within 2 km of me?
While your shot constantly miss or do low damage because you are so much out of range my guns rip your shields and armor. Even if you have a MWD (which drops yoru shields to 50%) i can still easily keep you out of optimal range.

I never said that they suck, I demand that you correct your statement to exclude me...
Hybrid are nice if youc an close up to the enemy, having a fast ship, having an ambush, in fleet support or with the comming cloaks.
Capwise they may be somewhat demanding but still they fire ALOT while projectiles need lots of slots, skills and modules to get a decent rof. I prefer projectiles though...

... That's a conveniently blanket statement considering the variety of possible ship setups :s
