I dont agree. I think ship speed should matter in combat, but there is no reason why bringing a battleship to the fight should take an hour. Imagine a fleet in 0.0 who needs to move their ships 30 systems away. Should it take 3 hours just to GET there? And then 3 hours back? Suddenly Eve becomes a game for the unemployed or lonely people only.
Some of your arguments are pretty good, but I frankly cant wait for this change to make it to TQ anyway. Because I want to have fun when I play Eve. Not travel.
why the hell are you attacking 30 jumps away in the first place?!?!?!!?!?
because you have instas for that.
If you and corp/slliance set up shop somewhere - you should have influence over the LOCAL area - like 5-10 jumps away...
If you want to fight 30 jumps away, buy a second battleship, jumpclone, and just jump there ffs!
I can fight in various different places - i have 4+ complete sets of gear + replacements which i place where i fight.
There is NEVER a _good_ reason for a battleship to think it can fly 30 jump, fight, and fly home in a single evening. THAT is what is wrong with the game, instas and this bloody "warp to 0"

Actually, i see 2 "camps". The ones worries about gatecamps, and the ones worried about the effects on the rest of the game.
Fine - make both happy.
Introduce the "warp to 0". BUT - at the same time delete ALL BMs, and make a max limit of 20-30 bookmarks which are uncopyable. AND - make the speed differences in agilty and warp much greater - I mean freighters and other capital ships take a minute to align for warp, battleships take about 30 seconds, cruisers about 15, and frigates about 5. Have the warp speed change by a factor of 3-5 times slower.
So you can have your warp to 0 - but it'll still take a time to manuver in space to get where you are going - AND HOW YOU FIT will make a difference.
If you want to get somewhere fast - fit nanos and inertia dampers etc.
There should be a trade off between fast/safe or able to fight.
What i really hate is fully armed and armoured ships being just as fast as a similar ship set up for travel.

I think if you fit nano's to make you faster, maybe make ab and mwd "auto use" when you come out of warp - they should be enough tools to let you cover the 15km.
In a well setup frig or inti those 15k can normally be crossed in less time than it takes for most ships to lock you (unless its a prepared camp w/ good tacklers).

well. with the new scanning coming in, any cans at safespots etc can just be scanned :) So i'd say just delete all the BMs and be done with them - and make sure that you impose a limit in the number of BMs a pilot can have (20/30?) and make them uncopyable.
I'd be happy.
