A Hulk can fit two of these, and has the best yield of all the mining ships when mining ore. With two fitted, that offers a 2% mining upgrade.
So say we're running max Rorq boosts, that's 70.7 sec per cycle. It'd take just about one hour to mine an entire extra yield worth of ore.
Two of these modules will cost about 2 billion. So to make it back, let's say we're mining an average of 412 isk per m3 mined. And that's on the fairly low end. (REMEMBER: These are really rough figures and not to be taken at face value! Also, running Highwall and Michi.)
3841 yield: 94.9 mil/hr (Aoede) 3772 yield: 93.3 mil/hr (Tech 2)
So if that sort of mining can be sustained, we're looking at about 1250 hours to make back the money spent on the upgrades.
Thoughts, opinions?
Need stuff moved? Push Industries will handle it.

My thoughts are a tech II mining laser upgrade cost 500k isk, an Aoedes cost 900mil isk, so how much do you have to mine before you offset the abyssal cost difference?
Are you sure your hulk will survive the time needed to pay off that piece of equipment?
I would go for a T2 mining laser, and dock the hulk and simply drive the T1 variant |

If you tell me in which system you're mining I can come with appropriate detection tools and validate your yeld factor in order to calculate the precise delta-ore you shell mine to pay it back. I can take screenshots too. |

Aeodes are crap. Maybe you can use them in Null, far off from everything, being at the PC, with Intel Channels everywhere. But they are not worth it, no. |

I wonder if introducing faction (ORE) MLU could be cool, I would like to use these. But yes this storyline module at 900M => nope.

This is a legit offer, he's really great at maths for all sorts of things like dps on suicide gank catalysts.
I've done some really stupid shit in this game.

They are a very rare drop as far as I know and I have no idea where they would drop in New Eden. With the very high market price it would definitely not be a good idea to fit them if mining in high sec. If you're talking null-sec and the 'blue donut' then maybe it would be a viable proposition. Mining in null-sec, with the Crius changes and more recent iterations, has been buffed into silly season though so use of Aoede modules is not really needed.
The more interesting element of the changes to the Aoede module is that this could mark the eventual advent of change to other modules. Making those modules a little stronger than T2 equivalents will rejuvenate certain parts of the game.
It might be nice to add the named modules such as Aoede that currently drop to a new construction sub-set that can be made by players using rare to acquire BPCs and materials. But not as rare as they currently drop in the case of the Aoede module.
