Given the ECM changes are going to eliminate covert ops ships used as tacklers, do people think this is a good or bad thing?
This it is currently a very effective strategy versus snipers. You get a covert ops ship, fit him with 2pt+ scram, web, and 2 racial jammers for your target, you have your gang wait for the covert ops to be in position, you start warping to the covert ops and at some point while you're all warping the covert decloaks and tackles the sniper before the gang appears on his scanner.
It has other uses as well, without giving away too many clues.

what about sensor dampener or tracking disruptors?
ew is not just the ecm-modules!
a bs with 2 t2 dampeners on it wont make anything until your gang arrives! |

I'll just used a Rook/Falcon (whichever one cloaks).

It isn't always a battleship you're tackling. Not always a sniper either... I just don't want to give away too much in the way of tactics. I will have to check the fitting and capacitor requirements, but your suggestion might work in the case of snipers.

Two problems with the Falcon in this role are the time to lock the target and how fast it can get into position.

interesting but yes needs more testing - i think thats where the force recon (covert cruisers) come into play as tacklers

My Covert Ops (Helios) has always been and will always be fitted with Phased Muon Sensor Dampners and 7.5km Scramblers, with Nanofibres in lows.
Given that I do not have to fit 2x7.5km scrams to hold down a sniper BS, I can go with 3x Phased Muon Damps, 1x 7.5km scram and 1x MWD (for getting away from pesky dictor bubbles). With SD skills, 3xDamps will give you plenty time to hold down BS->BCs while gang gets in.
Since I can fit 3-4 Damps on the Helios and still hold down with 2pts pretty much anything that needs to be tackled with Cov Ops (belt npcers, snipers) -- I'll be using my tackler cov ops a lot more in Kali .
