I just came back to Eve after 18 months. I played both Rift and WoW while gone since they don't require anything like the commitment Eve requires and I had friends in the game. It's so refreshing to get back to Eve, where everyone's your enemy. (j/k, mostly)
Blizzard is the gold standard, in that they have lots of gold, a money machine unmatched in gaming history outside of Las Vegas, huge population and armies of programmers. Their mission is content for everyone. And they've done it.
As proportion of population, WoW has 5-8x as large a female subscriber base than Eve. something like 20-30% of the base, and more coming. They have entire storylines based on love stories, relationships, healing, family - the chick stuff. I've been in two guilds doing fairly high level raiding, and the best healers in the guild are the women, and some of these ladies are tough as nails, taking screaming, cursing, other abuse, and sticking with the group and keeping them alive.
They are a significant part of the population, the fastest growing part, and they are valuable guild members. |

Perhaps we could make some sort of facebook-based browser version of PI, but integrated into the EVE chat system so we can ask A/S/L, demand pics or invite into chatroulette. |

No, I'm at work which is full of interruptions. So I'll continue this when I get home tonight, but I wanted to start it because I think it's important, and gives a direction for CCP to help dig itself out of the hole it's made. |

I still don't get the OP's rant though...
cold metal behemoths and "love story" don't really fit together so well...

If you don't have time to post a coherent idea, don't post. Posting half an idea is worse than posting nothing at all. And CCP is not going to take action on your idea this afternoon, there was no need to post anything before you got home and are able to actually write something out (not that CCP will listen to you anyways, but whatever). |

how much player generated GOSSIP, RUMORS, and general hearsay is there for the average girl to partake in?
as for ACTUAL gamer-girls who usually dont give a flying rat's ass about gossip, there is still combat and making their opponenets cry in pvp.
all in all, plenty of "player driven" stories for the girls to get their fill on, i dont see why CCP should hire a bloody novelist to faciliate one "girl's" obsession with sparkly space-vampire romance. |

don't know. maybe incarna was an attempt to get girls into the game. ... less metal stuff, more barbies, lots of boots.... however the common eve pilot didn't like shopping that much.
but seriously: (i assume you are female) why don't you ask a girlfriend what she thinks about spaceships and warpdrives, do the experiment again with someone else but asking about orcs and elves, trees or magic. You will quickly see that this is a statistical problem and not unique to eve.

Spot on. If it's technical, it tends to put off double-X chromosome bearers. It isn't limited to gaming; just how many female sci-fi book authors do you know? With some notable exceptions just about everything sci-fi related is still male dominated.
And somehow I don't expect that to change anytime soon.
As a side note, may some forum mod please move that thread to "General discussion" or such? Lacking an actual feature idea I think it's a bit misplaced here.
