Personally im waiting to be convinced what is good about walking around on planets and shooting eachother. I mean, you cant expect Eve to surpass the traditional shooters like Unreal Tournament etc, so whats the point of having some doom 1-like shooter experience?
And as for the improving the social aspect of Eve, well, whats the difference between talking to eachother in gang chat or as avatars on a station?
So, like I said, still waiting to be convinced its a good idea. I probably just dont "get it" yet. Its happened before. :)

you won't walk on planet and kill everyone with your plasma gun... plantetary exploration is more like mining facilities and so on...
who said that there are going to be FPS-like fights ? maybe there will be fight such as you drop marines on stations or whatever is conquerable and you maybe gain control on it... who knows

I belive tey plan to hire in an outside team to work this aspect out.

That you would be able to go into some dark caves, and mine Uranium and Plutonium, while having scout at the entrance to warn of pirates!
