Originally by: bldyannoyed A Moa can comfortably fit to splat small stuff at 100+km ... The Moa does what it does, i.e. sits at extreme range ( for a tech 1 cruiser ) and shoots stuff. That is the role it was designed for, and it does it well.
That's complete bull****, and you should know that unless you're just repeating what others write on the boards to deny others the right to have decent ships.
With an Eagle and close to max skills everywhere, I don't 'splat' small stuff as you suggest, far from it. An interceptor (we are not talking about shooting at noob ships, tristans or kestrels here, aren't we ?) has plenty of time to bail out if an Eagle starts pounding on it, and can even still scramble his target for a while before thinking about getting out.
In a Crow, I managed to fly in a straight line with MWD on being fired at by 2 sniping Eagles 180km away for a good 20 seconds and got out with full armor left... then came back from a better angle and tackled them.
I'm very sorry, but Tuxford's views (probably enforced by his Oveur) on long range Moa/Eagle don't hold water. It is very rare (if you're not the camper type) to have any engagement when you achieved your range and even then the Moa/Eagle are subpar at their optimal range, the Moa going poof in a heartbeat from BS fire.
With Kali, it will be even worse, just plant a large bubble and camp at 150km with an Eagle, I'll get through in a Merlin.
The Moa is the most skill intensive cruiser and the worst of all tier 3 and possibly even tier 2.
Moa/Eagle need more turret slots, and possibly a different slots layout, those who actually fly those beasts and don't face retards who'll sit still untill they go poof will tell you those ships are not great.
About the dual 150mm, just try them, they are utter garbage, not many producers still bother building T2 150, they pretty much give them away.
I also tried the Moa with blasters and dual NOS, that thing flies like a brick, has a crappy cap, wasn't designed to fit blasters, and it's still better than with rails.
When this whole debate took place with the MK II project, figures were posted (I remember Naughty Boy and Nyxus taking part in the discussion, if my memory serves me well) on top of combat impressions from seasoned PvPers. The conclusion were crystal clear: the Moa sucks balls.
