Originally by: Ascend Alt There is no fun in this war, no humour, no laughs, its too much like hard work, and while I dont mind putting the effort in when required up to a point, there comes a time when you say "meh, now where did I put that Neverwinter Nights 2 disc".
Well, I suspect this comes a bit from ones point of view. I think most/all BoB players will definitely not agree (lots of laughs and humour on TS). That is of.c. much easier when you can look at your situation and feel you're winning. This was not meant as a hidden jibe, but your post can't be commented on without adressing current situation. We also have our dull moments when there are no enemies around, but fill those with lots of abusing of each other on TS
Originally by: Ascend Alt Where did I say it was not hard work? I rather thought the point of my post was that holding space from an assault from you guys is rather much too much like hard work and its not a whole lot of fun and at the end of the day I play the game for fun, not to prove something to myself or to others.
The reason for this is probably more of your own doing than anyone else, including BoB (with 'you' being both yourself as well as your corp/alliance). Having fun in this game is largely up to yourself.
You should probably ask yourself the question 'Why is this not fun?'
As DBP said, having a 0.0 empire IS hard work, and continously so. It may be that this is not the type of game (within EVE or not) that suits you best. If you're primarily an industrial type, then there is not much of a position for you in a war and you will have no fun, unless you shout 'Banzai' and take it as a crash course in PvP. Get out there and start shooting! Just remember, never fly anything you can't afford to loose. Tbh, if a game felt like work to me, I'd either change my mode of play, or find another game immediately (note, I'm not advocating that you quit. See the rest of the post on how to add fun).
Also, your HC/FC know there are enemy roaming gangs in your area. One way to raise the fun level for the average player would be to arrange hunting parties. Sure, you'll probably loose some ships, but the players would have some successes, and would have FUN doing so. Nothing kills morale like POS-sitting.
There IS a lot of fun to be had in this war, no matter whether you're on the defensive or offensive. Getting to that fun though will involve taking some risks. a. If you don't like POS-sitting, gather a few friends and go roaming. b. If the enemy is sieging a POS of yours, gather some sniping ships and a co-op and go harrass their protecting fleet. c. If an enemy fleet is on the way, gather a small gang and go for stragglers or people getting ahead. d. I really shouldn't be giving you this advice
I've tried to keep my comments as neutral as I can, and the above should be taken as constructive criticism on your post. More players in the game means more fun for everyone, so don't quit!
