I fail to see why People try to use this arguement, as it's absolutely flawed. 5 Orge IIs - the most damaging tech 2 heavy drone - with all respective drone skills at level 5 as well as Gallente Battleship 5, does 475 DPS raw DPS. That is the most damage you can get out of a Dominix's dronebay, and tbh... all the tier 2, and probably the tier 1 as well, all surpass this amount of damage already. It's not that impressive. If the Myrmidon had the grid to fit large hybrids, and a 5% bonus to large hybrid damage, then it would have the same DPS as the Dominix. Please, stop using this excuse - it's a highly flawed arguement.
Jim, first off, you can't balance a game on graphs and only graphs. Secondly, I would be interested in seeing what set up you used on your Graphs, for the Myrmidon as well as the Brutix and Hurricane. While it is worthwhile to consider the possible outcome of the Myrmidon is full gank mode, it's not a good way to balance this ship - it is, by it's description, a ship that is supposed to tank, so let's balance it based on that fact and make changes where need to prevent from becoming all out of wack if you put the ship into full gank mode.
As far as the new-er slot load out in the recent Kali builds, it's a big improvement, the sixth lowslot is a great change. However, in my testing I found that using all six turret hardpoints was not a particularly good idea, as with the lengthened fights due to the HP increase mandated fitting two medium nos, in addition to a cap booster, to have a chance of not losing by default to an empty capicator well. Dropping two turret hardpoints would facilate this new style of gameplay, with out overpowering the ship in full gank mode.
Either way, the dronebay is not big enough. I found in many fights that mediums just didn't cut it, however the damage with heavies was sufficent. This is in actual testing, and not on a graph. Even on the notion that the Myrmidon used only medium drones, it should get 150m3 to fit 3 full waves of mediums. Since with current drone mechanics that would allow the ship to feild five heavy drones, the Myrmdion should be balance for heavies, and not mediums. We don't need to cook it up any wacky game mechanics, that is time better spent else where.
The damage output on it is acceptable with four heavies in it's current state, so let's try to adjust that bonus so it gives comparable performance. As suggested many times by others, 7.5% would work great for this purpose. Note that this also affects the already (relatively) low HP of drones as well. Let's give it 250m3 of dronebay for two full waves of heavies. This is 435 DPS out of the dronebay - not too shaby, but not incredible either. Oh, and that's assuming you are using Ogre IIs for their big (paper) DPS. It of course ends being quite a bit less if you are using another type of drone.
I'll let you figure out the DPS for the guns Jim, but if you could calculate for Electrons, Ions, and Neutrons with four turret hardpoints. Depending on the resaults, we could tinker around with the fittings as needed so it's not fitting larger guns and becoming overpowered.
It's great not being Amarr, ain't it? |
