No other EvE gift I know of has expired in a week either.
It was a BOT detection ruse.

I am 99% positive that the special Quafe booster did in fact, expire.
But I have been proven wrong before.

15%...? Malcanis' Law: Any proposal justified on the basis that "it will benefit new players" is invariably to the greater advantage of older, richer players.

15%? I thought it was 1.5%
there are a ton of them for sale by contract. last i checked in Amarr they were as low as $10M to 50M ISK. if you wait a bit longer, or check other regions, probably even cheaper. |

this should be the next one i believe
Traits Slot 4 Boost intelligence by 3 Provides +1.5% CPU bonus Provides +1.5% capacitor recharge Implant set bonus: 50%
Development This is the second half of the Core Augmentation implant set, delivered by Genolution as a follow-up to the CA-1 just months after their first demonstration of new augmentation techniques shook up the often-stagnant industry.
The CA-2 picks up where its predecessor left off, providing a dual boost via frontal lobe enhancements and a neocortical modification that complements the CA-1's focus on a captain-¦s ship-fitting concerns. The end result is an increase to intelligence, coupled with improved CPU output and capacitor recharge rate. Additionally, when combined the CA-1 and the CA-2 supplement each other, providing vast increases in their overall net effect.
Concurrent with the release of the CA-2, Genolution offered up the implant's schematics for public inspection. They claimed the move was designed not only to allay any lingering fears about the technology - now widespread amongst the capsuleer class - but also to provide a foundation for future advances in the field. |

well not really if you claim the 2nd one when it's released (probably around christmas day?)
you figure you get another 1.5% for a total of 3% for the set then you add in the 50% bonus for having the set to that 3% for a total of 4.5%?
that could help a bit |

Having them expire so quickly is utterly idiotic.
ESPECIALLY when no one who knows what they are doing even tries to log in the first day or two after a patch.
There is no reason it couldn't last a month or something. |

Why not just have these things automatically applied to the station where a pilot's medical clone is located once past the expiry date? |

Because it's a gift for ACTIVE players only. CCP chose the definition of active to be people who logged in during the promo period and clicked the button. I mean it's their game, they can do that. Also gift horse, mouth, etc. |

That would make far too much sense.
Log in, gift appears at clone station. I know people who haven't been through this before always miss the redeem icon. |

I saw the redeem option on all my characters when I logged them in. Thinking it was no different than plex, I figured I'd leave the button alone until I was in a convenient location and had decided what I wanted to do with them.
Having read this after finding the option missing, I have to wonder what the hell they were thinking. I'd have been far happier not to have received the "gift" option at all. better that than to have it, then with no warning or indication of there being limitation, having it disappear.
I thought they wanted more players in the game. Not just more players wondering WTF it's all about. ;P

Was there any such notification on all the prior gifts? I know they stated the dates on the Dev blog, but that was done on other offers as well. I can't remember the time limits for the others. Was this one shorter? |

I missed it too. That's what I get for living in a WH I guess. If I'd have known it was going to disappear, I'd have popped out to pick it up. Ah well, that's life |

I'm a reasonably new player.
When I read about the dates of the gift offer elsewhere, I took it to mean anyone who logged in over that time got the item. As in it's yours, just choose the time and place for delivery. The redeem button (going by previous plex experience) was my indication that I had the item. the rest was merely a formality.
The guys who think up these things must just think differently than the average person. Hell, they are the ones with the idea that encouraging the greifing of new players is an awesome business plan. I guess it kinda makes sense they'd have a gift system like this.
Them there be some mighty good drugs you guys are on :D

Started Eve around end of Apocrypha and every expansion onward just sucked. Put up with it as a carebear and when CCP needed that cash injection, i ponied up USD200 for the PLEX package.
Didn't want to redeem my CA-1 implant hoping it would stay there. Didn't want to redeem ANYTHING and end up like this guy.
And now an item that WAS mine magically disappears... I now have the freedom to ***** about how sucky the Crucible expansion is. |

Whatever don't offer me anymore BS CCP if you are just going to take it away instead of doing the right thing of stacking it. Spend your time doing somthing better AKA fixing AFK cloaking.
I don't remeber that offer being for one person spesifically. That you didn't get to log in during the time the offer was active is not CCP's fault.
However I have heard that you might get said item anyway if you file a petition. If you say politely that you was on vacation and did not have time to log on during that timeperiod they might be lenient and give it to you The ships hung in the sky in much the same way that bricks don't. |

I was in a wormhole when I read on the characater select screen that the implanmt offer had an expiry date. I tried to redeem it immediately, but was told that I had to be in station to redeem it, so I left the wormhole, flew to a station and redeemed it. Am I doing it wrong? |
