I lost 2 Mauluses, a couple velators and an empty pod.
So what is "worth it" to you personally? ? To me those 5 losses were "worth it" cuz i helped destroy 3 T2 ships worth over a half billion.
Some people HATE dying though and never consider it "worth it" if they die. Ithers like PL and BL will lose 200mill ships in exchange for 10 2mill frig kills and say the Good-Fight was "worth it" to them.
So whats "worth it" to you? I always seem to relate my EVE gameplay style to this game... I think because I starting playing the two games online at the exact same time back in 2006.
On the other side of the coin: the purpose of losing something is always part of the overall strategy...

at the risk of sounding really generic right now... At least within the circles I run.. Any fight that ends in explosions is "worth it" to me.
I don't care if I live or die. As long as I got to shoot back.

Worth it, to me, is when i have overcome something--usually in my head--to come out the winner in a fight. I have a lot of hesitation about pvp, what i should take, what i can fight, what i can win against.
So, really, i guess it comes down to this:
Did i learn something from it?
If yes, it was worth it. If NO, then it wasnt, and i retain this ... mad, unsatisfied feeling. I NEED to know why a failed in a fight.
Lost a confessor to a coercer once--i was just furious, it made no sense at all. Mostly i was mad that we engaged at scram range, i got lock and scram, and he burned out of it somehow. After that, there was NO chance of me living. He was fit with polarized guns, 650 dps, and we could both hit each other, but i could NOT keep up with his dps. the only ship i had ever fought that i couldnt.
i learned something though. Polarized guns are no joke--and that 1-2 seconds he had an active mwd before i locked him were enough to get out of my range (a tactic i have used effectively only once myself).
Worth it.
may I suggest you record your fights then. Even if you only do it for yourself, There are a ton of things going on in a fight. Having a recording of the fight is a good way to review it all. And review every fight at least once. Win or loose. There is something to learn from each. |

Just as long as it's fun, I'm not experienced in pvp much at all, hoping to change that soon. |

I see lots of good answers here. Hope for the future of EVE and whatnot.

Losing ships in epic live events (that have not happened in years unfortunately because hurr durr Muh ISK/Killboard) was worth it.
Pause for "I was there" stare...
There I things I do that only incur pure loss that are worth it because it makes me giggle like Loreena Bobbit in a sausage factory.

I've flown a lot of fleets that we all knew were suicide runs. Fly till ya die stuff. I also like fights that I *should have lost* but ended up winning.
Most times, every fight was worth it, win or lose. About the only sad fights were when I was damped or ECM'd the whole fight. I'd add that losing a ship AND having a **** of an FC is not worth it. |

Good PVP is like good sex. Whether you're doing the *******, or getting ******, as long as you feel like a smoke and a nap when it's over, it was worth it.

For me, it's the fight, not the kb efficiency, that matters.
