We will be featuring the recent Fanfest within the pages of the next EON, with pictures and other inky good bits, but before we get started fully, I'd like you guys to short and sweetly write what for you was the best/worst part of being/not being there. The best comments will of course feature in EON#006. Keep it short though (less than 50 words), there are only so many trees in the world.
Cheers and much thanks

Quick question to the mods, where would be the best place to post a rather lengthy introspective on FF06? I'm cooking something up and was wondering where the best spot to post it would be.
General ok, or is there another forum that would be more appropriate? Thanks.

Well, in our defense, every night we drank our faces off at the Nordica and were pretty much screwed the following morning. I think the Cokes were just a great way to jumpstart our blood sugar levels.

lol, i did saw across your shoulder on you posting. The most special, is i looked on the bunch of MC dudes sitting, and actually asked YOU who was seleene.
I simply walked straight to the one i had a feeling was the "leader" of the pack, hoping for actually such a person knew who was who. EvE also is the only game where that IS true, mostly, clan leaders in mmo's, is lone truck drivers, or students who fluke their education, or other loners playing games lonely, playing away their life, unable to get a job. EVE players acutally got a LIFE, and their leaders stand out in the crowd, as ppl WITH skills. I though to mention this on fanfest, but, the INSANE noise made talking impossible -_-

My favorite memories of Fanfest and the trip to Iceland in general:
- The flight from Toronto to Baltimore. Stewardess. That's all I'm saying. - Meeting ArachV0id and Remedial at the airport. Arach was holding up a cardboard ***** cut-out with my name on it, and Remedial was doing the Truffle Shuffle. - Finally meeting my awesome and asskicking and amazing E-ON coworkers. - Anna Katrin, I want to marry you <3 - Seeing Raem Civrie get drunk and try to take notes for his allakazam article. - Red Chili's with the MC! - Rotten shark at the fish market! - Brennivin! You thought you could make me throw up, Atari boy, but Polish stomachs are made of stronger stuff than you thought. - The last night of Fanfest, and the night where the Guiding Hand Social Club launched its most daring operation to date - the heist of 20 beer tickets over the course of the night, of which 16 I consumed myself.\ - Missing my flight on Monday due to being trapped in the middle of Iceland, our car bottomed out on ice, for four hours during a savage snowstorm, eventually necessitating the summoning of a search & rescue truck to pull us out. - The shocking, unadulterated beauty of Icelandic girls. I seriously could count the ugly ones on one hand, and they were all American tourists. Having to go through JFK on my way back from Iceland was almost a nauseating experience, going from a paradise filled with angels given human form, to a sweltering cage populated by greasy obese mammoths with bellies protruding from beneath their "Cutie" tank-tops. - Cheese filled breadsticks, heh heh. (Arach, you're sick)

The entire trip was as much a surprise for me, I didn't even know I was going until about two weeks ahead of departure. Such an incredible country though. I'm convincing my folks to take their next vacation there. Everyone was great, and putting faces to names was very fun.

Seconded. I met and talked with so many people it wasn't funny. I think I talked to all 20+ people on the Baltimore flight alone.
Don't think I met Winterblink; probably saw you and just didn't know who it was.

Edited by: Sosus Red on 16/11/2006 19:00:57 Edited by: Sosus Red on 16/11/2006 18:38:50 The FF was awesome. I had such a great time. I had won the trip from CCP and E-ON (not to brag), I did not know anyone else going. No one from my corp was going. None of my eve friends were going so i knew I would have to meet some peoples if I were going to have fun. Just let me say, EVE players are the friendliest group of people I have ever met. The first night I came down to the Nordica bar I met this Player from Cambridge. We talked for a bit and then others trickled in until there were a large group of eve players and people were buying rounds of beer for people, I must have had four or five free drinks that night. A group of us players, 2 brits 3 canadians 1 swiss guy and me met that evening and pretty much hung as a group all throughout the FF. I met some really great friends there and and all the eve players in general were really great people.
I was happy to have met Zapatero and Xicon, you guys publish an awesome mag. When we talked Zap, you asked if I would have came if I hadnt won. I said I propbably would have but after thinking about it I can definitevely say no I would not have. Before having gone, I had no idea what it would have been like and I knew no one who was going and I am not sure if I would have had the money. Now after having gone and having such a great time and meeting so many people I will be going every year, now that I know what to expect. I really hope that next year E-ON and CCP have a similiar contest so that someone else who would not have gone otherwise can go to fan fest and find out how much of a great time it is.
The human beat box was amazing. I was like omg. Never seen anything live like that. Real X did a fantastic job, thanks for putting the sexy computer voice in your songs! Roxxor was off the hook. Good job fellas!!! I was one of the people dancing till the music stopped.

Best memories...
Meeting up with so many people. Winterblink was awesome, as was everybody else. And the number of people who told me to tell tuxford something... amazing.
I'd like to thank that random player for helping me find my room that last night. And then not calling the men with white coats when I started ranting about how the bed was gone. I guess I found it eventually. Then when I woke up, there was some other guy in the other bed - not sure how he got there.
Also, it was a blast to meet all of the ISD folks. Especially the one that looks like Harrison Ford and who was threatening to punch me out for saying it.
Hotel parties were great, too. I hosted one in my room for staff and volunteers, had about a dozen people in a twin room. Then the next night we stole an executive suite upstairs and had a lot more people - and then some players showed up (Winterblink, et al). Loads of fun.
Worst memories...
Hmm, not sure I have any worst memories. I am not a fan of the hangovers, but they were really worth it.
I'm sure I'm forgetting something, but I'm still trying to process everything. I do regret not partying harder and longer, but hey, it was a blast. I was up until 5 or 6 AM every night.
Very fun. Thanks to everybody who showed. It was a blast, utterly. -------------- Garthagk Software Engineer CCP Web Cell

the tech demo of the walk on stations with the 'line dancing naked white men'
knowing that ccp know and love their fans. seriously the hotel had a BUILT IN PIZZA HUT.
vampire-hippo-octopus-squrrel!
the faction warfare roundtable. honestly felt like hammerhead was interested in what people had to say. (very cool in person)
finding out some of the goonswarm were pretty cool, even if they had trouble holding their drinks.
finding the harbour that had 6000+ ducks swimming around on it. that was very cool

My fan fest memories are for life! I had never been in a plane before, I had never been to Iceland before, I had never been in a room with so many other eve players before! Loved every second of it.
None of my corporation or alliance buddies were attending, that was a bummer, but I was there and I wanted to have fun so made the best out of it. I met this German guy on the bus over to Nordica, he didnÆt knew anyone either so we kind of teamed up.
I remember the first day during the gathering evening, I landed on this couch where I found out soon after that I was full of ASCN. Me the lonely Fixian in between all these ASCN, hehe.
The second day during the tournaments, I sort of walked all over the place, talking to random people I had never seen before. I watched some of the tournament, seeing others fight was nice. (Note to self, enter the tournament next year)
The 3rd and final day was the best day of course. The dev presentations. Those were just (lets not say WOW here) cool, lots of laughter and lots of info. Then the after party, w00t! I had never thought it to be that nice, the changing of the entire room to ôeve-styleöàvery cool, the bar ladies dressed up as eve womenàeven cooler hehe.
Then the music and band, awesome. O and lets not forget that on the 3rd day I went for a drink with one of the eve-store ladies! ( I cant remember her name , stupid beer hehe)
To sum it up, loved the fan fest, and will be there next year for sure!
Omak Topal. The only Fixian at the fanfest.

Heh, sorry about that. :) Spotted you guys all lined up for pics with some CCP folks, then saw the guy laying on the ground with his camera pointed UP the stairs. Couldn't resist sticking my camera out and snapping one.
Nice setup you guys had there. :)

That's me being excessively tired. I've made that mistake before (but not at the Fanfest thank god), I DO know it's the same guy, but I didn't want to be revisionist and edit my post. :p
It was neat being able to tell him what tracks were my favorites, and the fact EVE music tracks have never left my iPod. Makes for some great music to listen to at work.

Started Wednesday with a Deathstars concert in London, then out to Iceland, Highlights would definately be, meeting some new MC face to face, meeting the U'K guys, dinner with GHSC, and the (for the most part) fun and friendly atmosphere with all and sundry of the Eve universe, plus Iceland itself is a lovely place, definately will be back.
Originally by: Ugleb Sitting in the chilli restaurant down the street, the MC horde swaggers in, rearranges half the tables lots of loud banter bouncing around between our Ushra table and them, they all get up and pile out, we're on our third round, we see that every single one of them had been drinking coke.
Hard man image wrecked right there.
Orange juice and ribs (oh my god they were good :P) for me, almost felt sorry for the poor sap working there the third night we blobbed the place, nice food though and **** the waitress was cute :)
Originally by: Trooper B99 I have to add that two other memories that stand out are
1) The delayed semi-finals of the PvP tournament turnning into a wheat filled battle-badger royale 2) Carth holding his polaroids screaming that his minmatar chick images had vanished only to have Dinger turn them over from the blank side to the actual pictures . . .
CCG finals took a long second to the battlebadgers, and the battleHulk towards the end(Max you carebear) and I seem to recall Loxy saying he got Carth on film

I'm very sorry about not accepting your beer. I know that it is as important to know how to receiver as it is to give, but I was very stressed and I do appologize.
In my defence I must state that me and alcohol have a bad history and am not ashamed to say that I do not drink anymore.

Yay for non-alcohol drinkers! \o/
Anyway, sorry to slightly necro a thread, but, uh... I have to jump in here. People are disparaging "Jon Hallur" in this thread... guys, unless I'm smoking the doobie, RealX is Jon Hallur. RealX has been with CCP since nearly the beginning. I remember downloading samples of his music off the website in 2001. --- What good are actions if there's no one to tell the tale afterward?...
