1) Font 2) Overview 3) Sound system 4) Group options with friendly lock for logistic actions 5) Background stories, storyline arcs. Currently the empires and pirate factions could be removed without any impact on the game. 6) Combat and space design (Arcs of fire, protection, real 3d space movement without the base plane the ships are falling back to, formations, whatever - at least you can't dumb them down any further without falling back to Asteroids) 7) Fluff, loads of small things, redesign of the UI for S&I would be a good start. The game is missing a lot of small things that make the player see and feel that the devs love their game. Many areas of the game UI feel as if they were designed by people who are 100% techies and do not check what they code. (S&I UI, sorting the remaining time by first number, not by the remaining time.) 8) Old bugs, like those around POS and Outposts, recons, ... 9) Documentation. Full, complete, available when stuff is changed. (The player guide still leads the player through the S&I system that's been replaced over a year ago.) 10) Devs playing the game for playing the game would be fantastic.
10.a) Out of game: Get a forum design and administration team. They can't exist. Nobody can be that unwilling or unable to get the soft- and hardware running. 1 month for setting up a machine that renders portraits and plucks them into the DB feeding the forum software is okay when you have to do it from scratch. It is not an everyday task. 10 months with no end in sight border to sabotage or are a business design coming from the management. That Level3 is the worst possible choice of all backbone providers for at least 10 years should be known even in ccp's management by now. I cant speak for more than 10 years as I didn't have contact with them before that.
10.b) Teaching your coders how to design portable code. It isn't hard. It is basically a handful of rules you have to follow. There wont be any impact on the client performance. EVE is the only applicatin that is forcing me to have windows available. --*=*=*--
The cause for this is not yet known, but we do have a possible fix in testing. by Sharkbait | 2006.09.20 |
